#WATCH | Guwahati: On China's dam project and its impact on Assam, Advisor of Parley Policy Initiative, Neeraj Singh Manhas, says, "China had been planning a mega project for some time on Yarlung Tsangpo river. The Yarlung Tsangpo is called the Brahmaputra when it enters Assam. China may justify the hydroelectric project in terms of its push towards renewable sources of energy, but the project has ramifications for India--especially in the Northeast. In the case of India - Arunachal and Assam, what they have faced - in 2000, we saw a huge dam that leaked in the Tibetan region and led to great devastation in the North East at that point in time... It has a huge amount of natural resources which still need to be explored, and China is still continuously doing that without taking care of the needs of the Tibetan people... The Yangtze Dam, which is the largest dam in the world, has displaced the local indigenous people of Tibet. About 1.3 billion people were displaced at that point in time..." (08.04)

It has been 1.5 years since we first started working on this together, and today it has finally come into existence. This Scopus-indexed paper is the first English-language systematic analysis of the political-military dimensions of water security on the Korean Peninsula. Using a qualitative case-study approach, we examine how transboundary river systems and uncoordinated water management create practical security risks. Delighted to finally hold the hard copies of our edited volume “Green Power Politics and Climate Change: The Future of Environmental Politics in the Indo-Pacific.” Co-edited with Anmol Mukhia and Sriparna Pathak, and published by Routledge in the Indo-Pacific in Context series. Grateful to every contributor, reviewer, and the editorial team who made this possible. Holding the physical book after months of work hits differently. Looking forward to the conversations this volume will spark on environmental politics, green power, and the Indo-Pacific.
