🦔Microsoft filed a patent application for AI that can change what people say during a live broadcast. The system can remove or swap out words, then adjust the speaker’s mouth so the video still matches the new audio. Microsoft pitches it for live translation and fixing slip-ups, and says each viewer could set their own filters, like muting profanity. It could also keep the original recording on file. For now it’s only a filing, so it may never ship.
My Take
I’d leave this one in the patent drawer. Live TV is one of the few places left where people assume they’re seeing what happened, and a tool that hands each viewer their own edited version of a press conference wipes that out.
Markets trade on single words. A Fed chair hints at a cut or a CEO fumbles guidance on a call, and stocks move in seconds. Big funds already pay for raw feeds and instant transcripts, so they’d keep the unedited version. Most regular investors catch a clip on their phone an hour later. I’ve said for a while that AI fakes will turn the truth into something you pay for, and this would push retail even further behind.

A lot of people ask about my process. For buildings I just take some photos outside in grey weather, cut them out. Scale down > facet > scale down > index color. Then I proceed to click some pixels 3943 times until it looks good.

The responses to this have been incredibly dumb.
Me: "The EHRC guidance means I'm able to be excluded from male single-sex spaces such as an NHS men's ward"
"No it doesnt!" (when I've posted the exact part of the guidance that says this in black and white!)
"Good, you shouldn't be allowed in women's spaces" (Not even what I'm talking about in this one, keep up)
"Yeah it does deny you healthcare actually, but that's what you deserve for being trans" (at least these guys are honest...)
I have literally lost a right. I have no right to exist in single-sex spaces of either sex.
If I use the men's hospital ward, as transphobes want trans women like me to, and a man there objects to my presence, or if the hospital thinks someone MIGHT object to my presence, the EHRC guidance says that I can be excluded from the male single sex space.
If I can be excluded from an NHS ward at the whim of a random bigot, my healthcare is not a right I am entitled to, it's a privilege, that I can enjoy only until someone else decides I no longer deserve it.
