#Nuclear debate with Green Party of Canada (GPC)'s anti-nuclear consultant. Here's an excerpt focusing on COST and SPEED.
This is a tightened-up version of @Dr_Keefer and Dr. Gordon Edwards debate on #Nuclear Power. I've added some visuals that I hope are illuminating. (Decouple Media hosts the 1h48m original.)

"A new estimate by the industry ministry on future costs of power generation found that solar power will eclipse nuclear energy in terms of costs as of 2030." Frahnsi, based on the article you shared, you DO accept the fact that nuclear is PRESENTLY less expensive than solar? (OEB says only hydro costs less than nuclear.) So right now, GPC is opposing THE lowest-carbon source of energy on planet Earth, and because in 2030 solar MIGHT become cheaper, you think GPC should continue to oppose it? When you cite a 2021 article saying how low-cost the future looks for solar, are you aware of recent trends in solar (and wind) costs? (Lazard LCOE+ 2023 April report.) I'm not trying to be flippant here. If you are concerned about the cost of nuclear power, I can try my best to address your concerns. But don't you think GPC's blanket opposition to THE lowest-carbon source of energy on Earth is concerning? Even IF nuclear was more expensive, should GPC oppose THE lowest-carbon source of energy? Think of how this makes GPC look, as the supposed party of climate hawks? If you're a member of GPC, please reconsider. Please support the policy proposal "Withdraw Opposition to Nuclear Power". It is my proposal. I've been a member of GPC longer than I've ever supported nuclear power, but on this topic GPC policy is in error. It costs us credibility. It costs us votes. And we're impeding the fight against climate change.

Yes good night for now. For tomorrow: I need to know whether we're discussing a report that you haven't read. This is just absolute basic due diligence on your end because you won't understand me, my answers on sources, or my answers on funding unless you've read the report.

Perhaps this helps explain why Dr. Dorfman and I are so strongly (if respectfully) in disagreement about nuclear. I try to decide the moral qualities of an energy source only AFTER determining its physical & social qualities, not before. For some the process happens in reverse.

"That made my year" I told @energybants after his @CleancoreEnergy talk at TEAC11. youtu.be/nAUDuaqpVW8 ANEEL #Thorium fuel will make CANDU reactors more cost competitive 7x burn-up, 1/7th used-fuel output. What a fantastically flexible reactor CANDU is. Let's build more!

Wonderful for Minister @JonathanWNV to speak w such clarity about the benefits of nuclear energy at the @CanadaNuclear finance conference. Will he now reverse his prior position & join @GretaThunberg in calling for the Germans to keep their reactors online to avoid coal burning?
A fact is a fact - nuclear power is non-emitting, it is safe, it provides baseload power, and it is affordable. 1/

After meeting with Prime Minister @JustinTrudeau & the deputy leaders of the @CPC_HQ party today I look forward to discussing the vital role for nuclear energy with the honourable leader of the opposition @PierrePoilievre. @MurrayDavidJ @TimUppal @MelissaLantsman #cdnpoli
Great to chat with the Prime Minister about the need for the Government of Canada to end its contradictory approach to nuclear energy & embrace it as the proven solution for climate, clean air, medical isotopes & lastly energy security for our beleaguered European allies.

GERMAN FINANCE MINISTER LINDNER: KEEP ON THREE AND BRING BACK TWO MORE NUCLEAR REACTORS Two of three reactors that were shut down last December are ready to resume operation in just months. One of them already has fuel for a year of full-power operation. Lindner clearly knows.

Canadian #nuclear advocates. How are you? I'm fine. Green Party of Canada (GPC) is about to have a leadership debate. Questions can be submitted to [email protected] My question was: Will GPC leadership candidates commit to touring a CANDU?

Safely keeping Pickering Nuclear operational is a win-win. It will provide clean, low-cost electricity to support Ontario’s economic growth while securing thousands of good-paying jobs in Durham Region and across Ontario.
Proud to share the good news with @opg workers this morning: keeping Pickering Nuclear safely operating will provide clean, low-cost and reliable electricity to support economic growth and new jobs, while building a healthier Ontario for everyone. #NuclearEnergy

That dual critique & positive vision -- later reinforced in book form in 2006's 'Break Through' by Nordhaus & Shellenberger & 2007's 'Apollo's Fire' by @JayInslee & @hendricksb -- are what first drew me in to the movement to build a clean energy economy. Ive been at it ever sense

WAIT WHAT!? Germany’s #climate & #energysecurity record is nothing to ally with. Despite $500 billion on a #wind & #solar dominant energy transition, #coal was their #1 source of electricity in 2021. Their preference for Russian gas over domestic #nuclear finances Putins’s war.
Thank you Vice-Chancellor Habeck for speaking with me at the @G7. Canada 🇨🇦 and Germany 🇩🇪 have aligned goals - on climate and energy security. I am looking forward to continued collaboration on #hydrogen, #criticalminerals, and other low-carbon opportunities.

While @mandy_4richmond looks to be getting most 1st-choice support, clearly she SCARED more people away. Maybe by platforming a conspiracy-theorist Putin apologist? youtu.be/I9W-gHQZ2LY By broadcasting falsehoods about #nuclear?
