Hey #AlaskaTwitter - we have “no excuse,” absentee voting here. That means you can request a ballot by mail for any reason! It’s easy and accessible and gosh darn convenient. Just don’t procrastinate - you have until 8/6 to request your ballot! #akelect #akleg
You, after you go to absenteeballotapplication.al… to request a mail ballot for the August 16 Primary/Special General Election because we can’t automatically send you one this time. Deadline 8/6

It’s not just about what’s keeping women from re-entering the labor force, it’s about what’s kept women from equality. The pandemic blew the lid off of some hard realities, including the undeniable truth that the U.S. is at the bottom for child care and maternity leave policies.
How much does childcare cost? It’s the most important topic on every parent’s mind. We’ve asked 3,000+ parents to find out what they’ve been spending. See what we uncovered in our 2022 Cost of Care report, live now!

What a pleasure it was to be joined by community members, friends, and colleagues for the portrait unveiling of the late Senator Bettye Davis. Davis is the first African-American to have a portrait in the Capitol. A special thank you to the artist for his flawless work! #akleg

In special orders, Sen. Begich says the #akleg has already worked thoroughly on covid: "The governor has the power to act on these very items under his emergency declaration authority."
"We could be moving on that today instead of waiting to go through the legislative process."

Today, we sent a ltr to @GovDunleavy asking him to seek legal action to prevent the Court from eliminating AK’s campaign contribution limits. If the ruling stands, there will be no limits on individual and nonresidents’ campaign contributions. #akleg bit.ly/3fwJIw8

Earlier this week, Democrats in the Alaska legislature wrote to U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan expressing disappointment in his highly partisan and political speech that brought divisive Washington D.C. politics into a joint session of the #akleg. bit.ly/3fjSoVG

Friday is Ashley Johnson-Barr Day. Ashley was a beautiful 10-year-old girl who was brutally murdered in Kotzebue in 2018. Under SB101, March 12 (her birthday) was set aside as a day to honor her life and bring awareness to AK's high rate of violent crime against children. #MMIWG

The governor is wrong. The #akleg not voting on appointees means they're out. The law on this has been clear since territorial days. The courts ruled in 1956 that he's wrong. The text of a bill HE SIGNED this April (HB 309) says he's wrong.
Gov. Dunleavy says he views as valid his appointment of a revenue commissioner and picks for boards and commissions that the Legislature has not acted to confirm. adn.com/politics/2020/12/17/…

Today, @TomBegich ,@jkt_ak and I sent this letter to @AGKevinClarkson urging him to join 21 other states to defend our right to vote via #USPS.
Our right to vote is sacred, and red tape should never be used to prevent the exercise of that right.
