Imagine you’re Brian Thompson’s 16-year-old son. Some lunatic murders your dad in cold blood for literally no good reason. And then you log on and see your friends’ favorite comedian say this: Despicable. No other word for it.
.@billburr criticizes corporations' reaction to Luigi Mangione's killing of a health care CEO: “The response to the Luigi [Mangione] thing. It wasn’t ‘Maybe we need to look at what we’re doing if it makes some crazy person do this.’ [Healthcare executives’] response was to take their faces off the internet and get security. It’s like, you don’t think you need to examine this? You’re not the president. You’re just the CEO of a business.”

“Why are people voting for the Far Right?” “It’s immigration.” “We need to get to the bottom of why people are rejecting the mainstream political parties.” “They all support more immigration.” “Here’s my convoluted 10 step economic analysis for why people are voting for the Far Right.” “I voted for less immigration.” “Won’t SOMEONE DO SOMETHING to halt the rise of the Far Right?” “Please end immigration.” “What are you, some sort of Far Right Fascist?”
Here’s my attenpt to explain what’s going on in Germany: - Competition from Eastern Europe severely weakened collective bargaining in the 1990s. The result was wage stagnation and higher inequality. (This gave rise to a temporary export boom, but it didn’t last). - Gerhard Schroeder’s Hartz IV reforms undermined the German welfare state and created a new category of precarious low paying jobs. - Angela Merkel’s debt brake led to massive austerity right after the global financial crisis. This was removed only for military spending. - Germany’s leading industry was always cars. But the industry made a bad bet on ICE cars instead of EVs, and is now getting killed by China. - German industry relied on cheap fossil fuel energy from Russia. We know how that worked out. And now the AfD is riding high and the SPD (which used to be the world’s most prominent left-wing party) is dead. And Merz is weak feckless. Do you disagree with any of this, @edenhofer_jacob?

This happened because Jason Arday was a shameless con artist, then things got out of control, then he panicked because it was all taken away. Every step of the way, people enabled him because they were too politically correct to scrutinize his obviously fake story. This should have never happened.
Jason Arday, the former University of Cambridge professor, has been found dead. Mr Arday was found “unresponsive” at an address in Battersea, London, on Friday afternoon and later pronounced dead at the scene. 🔗 telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/08…

I’m not scared. I think you guys will fail because your ideas are stupid and very, very, old and will fail wherever put into practice. Price controls are older than Christianity, for instance. Your Mao schtick is moronic and takes advantage of your fans’ ignorance. I think you’re a cosplaying radical kid of privilege and apologist for murderers and terrorists. But you’re not scary dude. You’re a poseur. I think it’s hilarious you streamed my comments to your easily duped fans.
hey jonah, you seemed real scared about the changes taking place in american politics on that cnn panel buddy. is everything okay?

Brad, a 5% tax on Elon's trillion net worth would literally pay for free college and trade school for every American. And with the market's growth, he still would be worth over a trillion dollars! You don't think that's worth it?

5% of $1.2T is $60b. 8m students in BA/BS programs on average pay over $20k/yr, or ~$160b/yr for BA/BS degrees only. That tax could not cover even half of only US bachelor degree costs for just 1 year, excluding grad, ass., or trade degrees totaling another ~10m students. nces.ed.gov/programs/coe/i… bestcolleges.com/research/colle…

That water clarity is an engineering decision, and the math behind it is wilder than the video. Roman aqueducts ran on gravity alone. No pumps, no pressure systems. Engineers carved channels with a gradient so shallow it borders on absurd. The Pont du Gard in southern France drops 2.5 centimeters over 275 meters. That's roughly the thickness of a coin over the length of three football fields. They surveyed that accuracy with plumb lines and wooden leveling instruments. The clarity you're seeing is a direct product of flow velocity. Too steep and the water erodes the channel walls, picks up sediment, turns brown. Too flat and it stagnates. Roman engineers targeted a slope of about 20 centimeters per kilometer, which kept the water moving fast enough to stay fresh but slow enough to stay clear. Before the water reached the city, it passed through multi-chamber settling tanks where velocity dropped near zero. Suspended particles sank. Clean water flowed out the top into the next chamber. Repeat three or four times. Pliny specified the minimum slope in writing. Vitruvius published the exact mortar ratio for hydraulic cement: one part lime to two parts volcanic ash for underwater work. The pozzolana from Pozzuoli reacted with water to form a calcium-aluminum-silicate compound that actually gets stronger the longer it sits submerged. Modern concrete degrades in water. Roman concrete bonds with it. Scale the whole system and it gets harder to process. Eleven aqueducts fed Rome at its peak. Combined output: roughly 1 million cubic meters of water per day. That works out to about 250 gallons per person for a city of one million. Modern New York delivers about 125 gallons per person per day. Ancient Rome had access to double the per capita water supply of the largest city in the United States, running entirely on slope and stone. The Trevi Fountain in Rome is still fed by one of them. Two thousand years, same source, same gravity, same water.

Let's be fucking clear, you absolute moron: Virginia's own Supreme Court just ruled 4-3 that your Democratic legislature violated the Virginia Constitution's procedural rules when they rammed through that mid decade redistricting amendment. They fucked up the timing and process so badly it was thrown out, not because of "Trump’s gerrymandering," but because Virginia law says you can't pull that shit. Florida followed THEIR constitution to the letter. No violation. That's not two standards for democracy, you brain dead lawyer, that's called FEDERALISM. States have different constitutions and different rules, dipshit. It's been a thing since 1787. Maybe stop posting embarrassing civics fails and go read one of those law books you supposedly own. What a fucking clown. 🤡
Let’s be clear: If this standard applies in Virginia, it should apply in Florida too. Two different standards for democracy is not justice.

Thomas Sowell was relentless in demolishing this myth. Natural endowments explain almost nothing about national wealth. In his remarkable book Wealth, Poverty and Politics—one of his essential, wonderfully accessible studies—he shows that prosperity flows primarily from culture, human capital, and stable institutions, not from minerals beneath the ground or other resources.
"some countries, such as the Congo, remain poor despite their enormous resource endowment, while others, such as Japan or the Netherlands, have become very wealthy despite an absolute paucity of natural resources." utppublishing.com/doi/book/1…
