We are pleased to share In Conversation with His Excellency @SikyongPTsering la on the 1st edition of our Trans Himalaya Journal on Tibet.
Hosted by our senior researcher @dundadul
In this wide-ranging interview, Sikyong Penpa Tsering outlines the @CTA_TibetdotNet priorities for the coming five years, focusing on resolving the Sino-Tibet conflict through the Middle Way Approach, strengthening Tibetan communities in exile, and modernising governance through technology and institutional reform. He discusses China’s policies in Tibet under Xi Jinping, warns of increasing assimilation, surveillance, and restrictions on Tibetan identity, religion, and language particularly under the pretext of China’s ‘Law on Promoting Ethnic Unity and Progress’. Sikyong Penpa Tsering la emphasises the importance of safeguarding the succession of the @DalaiLama from political interference and highlights Tibet’s growing strategic relevance as a source of Asia’s major rivers and a critical environmental region. He also reflects on India–China relations, Tibet’s role as a potential bridge between the two civilizations, the enduring importance of non-violence, and the need for greater international awareness, Tibetan unity, and youth leadership. Finally, he underscores the universal relevance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s message of compassion, ethical leadership, and human values.
This interview was recorded on 8th June, 2026 at the Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, New Delhi.

If Prasar Bharati can spend ₹15 crore a year on a DD News show featuring a star anchor, while the ISRO Chairman’s basic pay is about ₹27 lakh a year, shouldn’t we rethink our priorities? If India wants to conquer space and attract our finest scientific minds, our rewards must match our ambitions.

MASSIVE BREAKING🚨
Another one enter the BJP WASHING MACHINE ?😂
Buzz is that an ex-Congress spokesperson, later a Rajya Sabha MP from another opposition party, is getting ready to join BJP.
She is all set to dump the party which made her MP
Let that sink in.
For years she sat on prime-time TV tearing into Modi, Shah and the godi media. Every debate, every tweet, "save democracy".
And now, the moment the seat is gone, the lotus suddenly looks beautiful?
That's not ideology changing. That's a career looking for its next posting.
This is exactly how BJP "wins". Not by winning hearts, but by collecting leaders who've lost their chairs.
Voters gave them trust. They're trading it for a post.
Remember the names. Remember the faces. Janta sab yaad rakhti hai 🗿🔥

Ex-Advisor to MHA on Tibet, Amitabh Mathur (@TonyMathur55), argues that India should confer the Bharat Ratna on the Dalai Lama to recognise his stature as an ambassador for our philosophical and cultural past rather than as a card on a chessboard (2020):

Thank you @sardesairajdeep for your grudging endorsement of my stand. It is precisely because we have imbibed the traditional Bengali reverence for books that we are appalled. That is why the BJP defended the likes of Salman Rushdie (he got his visa back during the Vajpayee govt) & Taslima. This tradition of Hindu pluralism has guided us and not those who feign a liberal inheritance. Happy Vijayadashami.
‘My head hangs in shame!’ Glad @swapan55 said this BUT it needs more than just fine words to rein in the mob that owes allegiance to his own party. What happened to the Bengali middle class reverence for books? Those who claim to worship Ma Durga and Ma Saraswati, then vandalise book stalls during Durga Puja? This is what happens when religion is only an instrument for political power. telegraphindia.com/amp/west-…

I came to Bombay with my driving licence and hoped that if I was unable to become an actor, I would at least become a taxi driver.
