I wonder how often the members of this advisory group rely on MARTA for transportation. My guess is never, but I'd love to be surprised.

This is sickening to hear. Seeing a MARTA employee shouldn't be a rare encounter. It should be the norm. I think having visible staff in all stations would make someone think twice about committing a violent assault like this. 11alive.com/article/news/cri…
Simply the perception of danger is enough to scare a well intentioned rider from using public transit.
MARTA needs to add more visible employees in their stations especially at night. Even start an ambassador program like LA has done. This can't be rocket science.

Anecdotal, but...
My wife and I rode @MARTAtransit on Friday to go to the airport
She’ll be flying back earlier than I will because I’m staying longer for a work conference
It was her first time on the train
Then this video came out
She is now refusing to ride back on it alone
Now she's going to Uber back to the local station to pick up her car when she flies back tomorrow instead of the train
Crazy times we live in 🤦🏼♂️
Someone please turn on the traffic light at 5th and Williams Street. This is a danger to students at Georgia Tech who need to use the diagonal bike lane and crosswalks. This has been out for weeks despite being on earlier in the summer. @ATLDOT @ATL311 @MidtownATL @GeorgiaTech

When people who profit from gentrification get to decide our transit policies...
"As the Eastside Trail became more popular, resistance from business owners and rail opponents to building a light-rail line that was supposed to start there has increased."

The MARTA rail system changes over the last 25 years, during which the Atlanta metro area’s population has expanded by 50%.
This is not World Cup ready! The new train departure boards were installed in 2021 and began to fail at all stations within a year. How will tourists navigate our city if they can't even see what time a train is coming?
Just saw a MARTA station cleaner at Arts Center tell someone to go pay back out and their fare.
This might be the best undercover cop disguise I've seen since I saw Marta police dressed as a Walmart employee a few years ago.
I keep telling people Randy is a blueprint what we need for our next MARTA CEO. I hope they come back inspired!
Joined @AtlantaRegional & the 130 members of their LINK executive leadership program. Appreciative for the opportunity to talk w/ Marta’s Board Chair @JenniferIde1 @andreforatlanta etc. discussing @wmata’s transformation in helping shape the future of transit in Atlanta

Greenwood is OUT and AEDs are IN!
Happy to share that many stations now have a device like the pic
These began appearing roughly 6 weeks *after* tweets abt it + an AJC article was published about the empty boxes.
I know you don’t like accountability @CollieMARTA but someone is going to have a cardiac event on your system.
An AED could save their life.
It won’t be possible.
And it will be your fault.

It’s actually good to hear her say “I’m disappointed we don’t talk more about metrics… it’s hard to acknowledge when things don’t go smoothly but we have to.”
Easier said than done, but let’s see what happens.

It's amazing what can get done in Atlanta when enough people speak up
Heads up for the Cascade Road community! Beginning Monday, Aug 11, ATLDOT will implement an around-the-clock construction schedule to expedite construction and restore full access to the corridor. Thank you for your patience. Let's make it happen! 💪👷
