📚 It's always nice to turn up and get a new book - this time, my latest. Author copies have arrived, and it feels like a long journey has finally finished. More posting and details when it's officially released 👀

It was a pleasure and an honour for @birginclare and I @ANUNorthAmerica @ANUBellSchool to join the @bletchleypark @GCHQ intelligence history conference with @TrooperAbs to talk about how Britain Brought Australia into the Five Eyes and Made AUKUS possible!
The theme of @bletchleypark and @GCHQ’s magnificent first intelligence history conference was “People in Intelligence,” so I discussed the role of the American people in shaping US intelligence history. Amazing conference with a great group!

#TBT Imagine a disk cipher the size of a pocket watch! ⏱️ In the 1920s, Alexander Von Kryha invented tiny but powerful cipher machines, including the 3.5" Liliput. Fun Fact: William Friedman cracked the Kryha cipher in just 2 hours & 41 minutes! media.defense.gov/2022/Dec/2…

The new malaria R21 vaccine rolled out in Côte d’Ivoire today could save millions of lives, thanks to British science expertise @UniOfOxford, Indian manufacturing @SerumInstIndia and the immunisation work of @Gavi. We’re committed to making more progress like this.
Brilliant @uniofoxford science expertise, Indian manufacturing @seruminstindia and immunisation work @gavi. The result? A new malaria R21 vaccine rolled out in Côte d’Ivoire today that could save millions of lives. That’s what international partnership delivers.

On 7 July 1917 German Gotha bombers made a daylight raid on London, following one on 13 June, both times exposing the weakness of London’s air defences. Anti-German riots broke out. This aggressive action against people with German names had an effect right to the top. 1/4

I see the news story today that Ernest Shackleton's ship The Endurance - which sank in Antarctic waters in 1915 - is having the protection perimeter around the wreck widened to preserve the vessel. This is as good an excuse as any to re-share some of the colour paget plates I've cleaned-up & enhanced, which were taken by Frank Hurley in Antartica a few months before it sank beneath the icepack. These are all original colour shots from 1915 and not colourised.
