Generation/destruction is metaphysically problematic. This is one of the reasons I reject talk of a "source" in the broadest sense. Better to root existence in self-evident identity, everything necessarily is what it is in its own right, no need for a "source" to be what it is.

There is no such thing as an existential explanation; explanation is only a narrative device within a story that is already told. It doesn't go to identity.
Hence my rejection of the initial premise: "complex reality", ie reality/what-is, does not have an explanation for itself.

It is a correct inference. If it is possible to be, then it can be, so in the fullness of what is it will be; for if it is not in the fullness of what is, then it won’t be, so it cannot be, thus it would be impossible to be.
This holds for god(s), unicorns, and anything else one may wish to discuss.

Sick and tired of all the focus on Homer's epics, tbh. A lady got kidnapped, guy has a tough time getting home, I get it.

No, Plato fell short of philosophy, and Catholic theology is incompatible.
Philosophy began with Parmenides/the Eleatics. They grasped reality as a perfectly complete whole, What-Is. That is the pre-condition for coherent metaphysics. Forget that and failure invariably follows.
