Crazy how this is considered reasonable by people replying? Since when do you have a "right" to get paid for 3 years while producing nothing?
European hiring rules are genuinely insane.
For example - if you own a company in the Netherlands and one of your employees gets sick, you are required to pay at least 70% of their wages for up to 2 years.
If they can't go back to work after 2 years and you haven't done enough for their reintegration, you pay their wages for 1 more year. And you can't fire them until after that extra year!
The large hadron collider was built in 10 years. The new Stuttgart train station is taking 21, at the very least. Crazy to think about

Oh.... I always thought it meant an Asian person from the Bay Area. I had no idea it had to do with... what did you call it? Statistics?
Wendover made a video in support of giving the chagos islands to Mauritius lol. Didn't expect such stupidity from him
If I were French:
>Le Pen v Melenchon: Le Pen
>Le Pen v Philippe: Philippe
>Le Pen v Attal: Attal
>Le Pen v Glucksmann: Glucksmann
>Le Pen v Retailleau: Retailleau
>Le Pen v Lisnard: Lisnard
>Le Pen v Hollande: Le Pen
It's crazy how they didn't have to be creative with city names in the ancient times because nothing was taken. Like what the hell is Ur
Yank leftists moving to Europe and realizing it's worse than America in pretty much every way will never not be hilarious
Leftists trying to last 3 minutes without bringing up Palestine
>French state sucks hard-working people dry to pay for the most generous social services in the world
>Leftists still call this "neoliberalism"
Jesus, what a repugnant ideology
A nice old building burns, and so the pearl-clutching begins. Where were these pearl clutchers when austerity was wrecking a generation? Why does one town hall grab their attention but millions of schools, hospitals, and homes dilapidated by neoliberalism are of no importance?
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
France's level of public social spending was third highest in the world at 30.6% of GDP in 2024. Excluding the pandemic, it is slightly down from its 31.9% high in 2014. Total public spending is 57.2%, second highest among large countries not at war and near all-time highs.

There really is no point trying to accommodate leftists, because you can spend yourself into bankruptcy to provide all the assorted goodies of modern France and they still behave like this.

Apparently people have a right to cause disorder, chaos and destroy other people's property if the government doesn't do what they consider moral. Fascinating opinion
