sam: local inference is a terrible allocation of scarce resources
“a lot of people want local inference, and somehow they assume that the problem is solved now because we have open-source models, we're going to be able to run them on our computers, and so we're not going to need all the stuff in the data centre
but from a global allocation perspective, actually it's quite terrible to have everybody, like, have a bunch of the world's limited supply of DRAM sitting in their own computer and being used five percent of the time
you want maximum utilisation in the cloud if you're trying to deal with this very supply-constrained environment
somehow many people's intuition is the opposite of that”

Friday night proved it, when Bishop Heelan and Sioux Center have met this year it's been nothing but hard-scrabble, nail-biter type games. "Held on for dear life, honestly, at the end there," Bishop Heelan Coach Jon LaFleur said after the game.

21-14, Heelan. Completely back and forth right now and both fanbases are about as amped as they could possibly be.
Perfect football weather tonight, fingers crossed it stays that way, for some high school football playoff action between @BHCS_Athletics and @SiouxCenterHS. The Warriors come into the game 8-1 while the Crusaders are 6-3.
14-14 now as Sioux Center’s Hibma is just putting the whole team on his back and getting almost whatever he wants on the ground.

14-7, Sioux Center scores right out of the half thanks to some massive runs by QB Ezra Hibma including one he broke for about 45 yards

14-0 at half in favor of Heelan. The Heelan passing game really started clicking near the end of the second quarter. The Sioux Center run game struggled to find rhythm outside of QB Ezra Hibma and miscues on deep passes really hurt the Warriors.

Rewatched the movie last night, still a really gnarly, potent horror-thriller.
10 Years of Green Room. Director Jeremy Saulnier and cast members Alia Shawkat and Macon Blair reflect on the late Patrick Stewart saving the entire film by joining the cast as Darcy two weeks before filming began.

Turek had already faced criticism from the Iowa LGBTQ+ advocacy group One Iowa Action over the ad. In response to that pushback, Turek's campaign shared a statement from Adam Peters, Iowa District 97 candidate, who said he supports Turek despite disagreeing with the ad ...
Kathy Winter, the head of the Osceola County Democrats in Iowa, said she was withdrawing her support of Iowa Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Josh Turek over an ad where he says he opposes males competing in female sports.

"I voted on the first day of early in-person voting, but if I were filling out my ballot today, I would still vote for Josh Turek," he said. "While I disagree with his ad, I know I can talk to him and make my concerns heard. You can too. I can’t say the same for Ashley Hinson."
