This is a massive contribution to the global body of evidence on basic income. But more importantly #basicincome making an impact right here in the UK.
I have such faith in and respect for the young people involved.
Very proud to see fantastic colleagues' work in this report!
The first official evaluation report has just been released for @WelshGovernment’s groundbreaking ‘Basic Income for Care Leavers’ pilot 🏴🚨
We’ve pulled together some of the key findings in the thread below 👇

ALT Orange filter over an image of a traditional sailboat out on open water, with the UBI Logo on the rear sail. To the right of the sailboat is a UBI Lab Membership logo and the words: 60-90 Onboarding Sessions, a list of dates/times and NB. that all times are BST.

Well … not yet, but something like this in the home of UBI scepticism; that’s quite something. theguardian.com/society/2023…

Will the rise of #AI destroy employment as we know it, or create a new generation of jobs?
Whatever happens in whichever industry, #TheRiseOfTheRobots seems highly likely to widen #Inequality, something that #UBI will be a well-placed to combat

#BasicIncome will improve pay and conditions.
Workers will hold the balance of power.

#TaxTheRich instead of tax breaks for the rich.
Putting money in the pockets of the 99% would stimulate the economy.
Trickledown economics doesn’t work. Fact.

Great to hear @AndyBurnhamGM say we need to link issues of justice like #UBI to a rewiring of power in the UK - devolution, end of HoL, PR - Westminster kills rational thought. @citizen_network @CitizenForward @DemeMove @TheDemNet @DemocraticYork1 @UBILabNetwork @UBIManchester

Street advertising in favour of a Basic Income, spotted throughout Prenzlauer Berg — apparently a basic income will allow you to have less existential angst, but more sex, more solidarity, and more time with your granny. A heady mix!

The job market is like a game of musical chairs. Automation is removing chairs.
#BasicIncome makes sure no one is left behind if no more chairs are available.

#UBI is a popular idea in #Yorkshire
And people hate #UniversalCredit
Extraordinary that @UKLabour can't get behind this.
But glad @FreeNorthNow @Yorkshire_Party do.

We welcome this news.
The figure proposed has exceeded expectations and Welsh Gov should be commended for this.
We hope there is much we can learn from this pilot about the impacts a #BasicIncome can have on society.

BREAKING: Every 18 year old leaving care in #Wales will be offered £1,600 a month over 2 years under the basic income pilot. 🏴
It's believed to be the highest amount offered on a scheme of its kind *ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD*.
