Millennials against each other abt Uganda's political succession @UOXUganda
Your masterly of profanities is what I really concede. I will pivot to the substance and restate as follows: Article 208(2) of the Constitution requires the UPDF to be non-partisan, national in character, and subordinate to civilian authority. Section 16(1) of the Political Parties and Organisations Act (Cap. 178) prohibits a member of the Defence Forces from: -being a founder, promoter or member of a political party or organisation; holding office in one. -speaking publicly on matters of political party or organisation controversy; or canvassing for a political party/organisation or a candidate. - Section 1(2) of the same Act excludes pressure groups and civic organisations from the definition of “political organisation.” A pressure group is a body that seeks to influence public opinion and government action without operating as a party. Section 97 of the UPDF Act (Cap. 330) only requires a serving officer to resign or retire when he or she desires to seek political office. It does not create a blanket ban on all civic association. Article 78(1)(c) expressly permits serving officers to sit in Parliament as army representatives while remaining in uniform — demonstrating that limited, structured participation is constitutionally contemplated. Application to a CDF chairing a civic organisation supporting NRM activities: If the body is genuinely a civic organisation or pressure group that merely supports or influences NRM policy/activities without itself operating “as” a political organisation (i.e., without contesting elections, sponsoring candidates under its own name, or maintaining the internal structures of a party), then section 16 does not automatically apply. The High Court (Justice Wolimbwa, 20 October 2026) has already held that supporting the political ambitions of a serving officer does not, without more, make an organisation an unlawful society. You seem to be trapped in the notion of “If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it is a duck.”!

I can’t wait for our Association! For the past two years we have shelved this idea. I believe we need Associations that are hands on not just groups to ‘talk & talk’. I trust you on helping people start coffee farming so I’m ready to also champion value addition. Our Generation Leader Gen. @mkainerugaba supports programs that support young people and country’s development through empowerment.
Coffee Associations Are Sprouting Like Coffee Seedlings! Every other day, a new coffee association is coming up in Uganda. Different names, different leaders but sometimes the same mission: supporting farmers, empowering youth, promoting coffee and improving livelihoods. And it doesn’t stop at associations. We also have NGOs running almost identical projects, visiting the same farmers, holding similar trainings, taking pictures, writing reports and moving to the next project. Yet, years later, some of these farmers are still struggling with the very same challenges they said the project could solve Now, this raises a serious question: are we creating impact or are we simply keeping projects alive? How many times should the same farmer attend training on good agricultural practices without seeing a meaningful improvement in their yields or income? Why should several organisations work with the same farmers while other communities remain untouched? Sometimes, the problem isn’t a lack of projects or funding; it’s poor coordination, duplicated interventions and too much emphasis on activities rather than measurable results. Government, donors, NGOs and coffee sector leaders need to ask themselves some tough questions. Can we coordinate our interventions better? Can we follow up on farmers after training? Can we measure how much their production, income and livelihoods have actually improved? Because a successful project should not only leave behind attendance lists, branded T-shirts and beautiful reports. It should leave farmers with something they can point to and say, “This changed my life.” Anyway, before you ask which association I belong to , I am also preparing to register an association of PLU supporters in the coffee industry. 😂😂 @JackieAkampwera CEO will be our leader and I am still looking for volunteers to fill the other positions. Our first project might be to teach other associations how to stop duplicating projects! 🤣Who knows, we might even invite all the other associations to our launch. Jokes aside, Uganda doesn’t necessarily need more organisations doing the same things. We need organisations that complement each other, reach underserved farmers and deliver measurable results. The real measure of success is not how many farmers appear in your project report but how many farmers are better off because your project existed. Guys dont roast me like coffee beans I just come in peace 😂😂😂. I have even struggled to look for pictures that suit my post just like how those association struggle to show impact 😂😂😂 For God and my country #YouthInCoffee

Great, let's benchmark too how Nordic countries by 2006 had connected all their provinces to the national Comms command center e.g. our LGs/Cities comms feeding into @MoLGUganda portal with one user code [email protected] to even schools. #FlawlessComms #OneCommsUG
Such a milestone reinforces Uganda’s commitment to robust digital governance as more services move online, as well as positions @ThefiaU as a trusted leader in safeguarding the integrity of the nation’s financial intelligence systems. @NITAUganda1 will continue to roll out the ISMS Implementation Project across the other selected MDAs. #NITAU #DigitizeUG

OMG do these infrastructure workers eer care or learn from the past? #SafeRoadsUG
Dear @NWSCMD, These concrete barriers your team placed in the middle of the dark road in a sharp corner in Namugongo near Namugongo Secondary School on Nkoyoyo Road, with very minimal warning signs don’t look safe at all. They are actually HAZARDOUS and DANGEROUS. You’ve been doing well but this one looks dangerous and reckless. Kindly rectify and make it SAFE for road users. #SafeRoadsSaveLives

🇺🇬 KIGALI’S TRUCK RESTRICTIONS CAME WITH A BUSINESS WARNING Rwanda was offered as a model during Parliament’s debate on restricting heavy trucks in central Kampala on 28 October 2026. But a benchmark should include the difficulties, too. In an article dated 29 October 2025, The New Times reported Kigali truckers’ complaints about delayed deliveries and lost income. Their union also warned about risks to refrigerated goods during long stops. Kigali’s vice-mayor responsible for infrastructure, Fulgence Dusabimana, defended the restrictions as a safety measure. He also acknowledged economic costs and said alternative routes were not ready. The hours need careful comparison. A driver quoted in that report described eight restricted hours on some Kigali roads, split between morning and evening peaks. Muhammad Kibedi Nsegumire (Mityana North) proposed allowing affected trucks into central Kampala only from 10pm to 6am. That would leave access closed for 16 hours a day. Different roads and trucks are involved, so the hours alone cannot tell us which system works better. For Kampala’s study, the practical test should be clear: Where will trucks wait? Can shops receive goods at night? How will refrigerated cargo stay safe? Which essential deliveries need exceptions? A truck restriction needs a delivery plan, safe waiting places and workable routes. Courtesy Photos
🇺🇬 KAMPALA’S TRUCK DEBATE HAS A HISTORY GOVERNMENT MUST ACCOUNT FOR “Unfortunately, we failed miserably to implement that directive.” Alyela Denis Omodi (Lira East Division), a former Kampala Central town clerk, gave that assessment during Parliament’s debate on heavy-truck access to central Kampala on 28 October 2026. He was recalling what he described as a 2011 restriction. There is a separate documentary receipt. A January 2022 JICA traffic plan recorded a proposed weekday truck-access window of 10pm to 6am, the same hours in the motion brought by Muhammad Kibedi Nsegumire (Mityana North). The document said the restriction was under review before the responsible minister could sign it. It also specified which roads and trucks would be covered, with different weekend arrangements. @KCCAUG advertised for land for lorry parks in August 2024, then invited bids again in December 2024 and April 2025. Those advertisements show attempts to acquire land. They do not establish whether the purchases were completed or the parks opened. The parliamentary debate ended with six months for the @MoWT_Uganda Minister to report. The accountability questions are straightforward: What happened to the earlier restriction? Was the instrument described in 2022 signed? What happened to the parking-land purchases? The next report should explain what happened to the previous plans and what will make this attempt work. There are bars in Rwanda that only serve milk, and tourists are visiting the country just to try them. Al Jazeera’s @MarahRayan finds out what’s behind this unusual drinking culture.

Today, I had a conversation with my former company, which owns three brand-new buses. I was pitching an idea on how we can work together to make transport more affordable for runners travelling to Gulu for the Gulu Marathon. We are finalising the arrangements, and one question came up: “How do you benefit when your rates are so affordable for everyone, yet you are offering a corporate VVIP experience?” My answer is simple: business is not always about maximising profit from one client. Sometimes, it is about creating opportunities, building partnerships, making experiences accessible and bringing more people into the tourism economy. At Travel Specialist, we believe that travelling to experience Destination Uganda should not be a luxury reserved for a few. We can offer comfort, reliability and a premium experience while keeping our packages affordable. We are putting the final touches together, and tomorrow we officially announce our Gulu Marathon package! Gulu, we are coming. Let’s run, travel, explore and grow tourism together.

During a panel discussion at the United Nations Country Team retreat today, Thursday, 29 October 2026, Executive Director Mr. @kasujja emphasized the growing demand for accountability. He noted that rising public awareness and media scrutiny make it increasingly difficult for leaders to evade responsibility. “Everybody is watching, everybody is seeing what’s happening, and it’s becoming much more difficult to sweep things under the camera.”

Construction of the UGX 470 billion Akii-Bua Olympic Stadium in Lira City has reached 85 per cent completion, keeping the project on track ahead of its scheduled January 2027 completion date. Eng. Mohammed Nazih, Project Manager at Egyptian firm SAMCO National Construction Company, revealed the milestone during a site inspection by Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Trade and Tourism. Subcontractors from Integral Group confirmed that hybrid grass—combining 80 per cent natural grass and 20 per cent artificial turf—has already been planted on both the main match pitch and the secondary training pitch. The 20,000-seater complex will feature an athletics track, a 2,000-seat indoor arena, a 60-bed hotel, a semi-Olympic swimming pool, and multiple outdoor sports courts to support Uganda as it co-hosts the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) alongside Kenya and Tanzania. #UnityAt25 | #UnityfmNews
