Uganda must deliberately build indigenous capacity to design, construct and maintain roads, bridges, dams, oil fields, drilling rigs, airports and major buildings. Government must establish a national strategy for engineering skills, technology transfer, equipment financing and strengthening local contractors. Every infrastructure project must empower Ugandan engineers, technicians and companies. We must transition from importing expertise to developing our own capabilities, creating jobs, industrialization and economic independence. @KagutaMuseveni @ObothOboth @Thomas_Tayebwa @R_Nabbanja @henrymusasizi1 @HonByamukama @rggoobi @MoWT_Uganda

The UEDCL problem reflects the long-term cost of continually outsourcing critical infrastructure development and relying on imported expertise instead of investing in and building our own local capacity to build national critical infrastructure!
