Honestly, anyone would be disappointed. I find the university management's handling of this situation deeply irresponsible. People don't just wake up and attend an induction ceremony. There is a lot of planning involved. Students make arrangements, invite family members, organise transportation, buy food, make financial commitments and prepare for the occasion. Some families may even travel from distant locations to be part of the celebration. After all that preparation, cancelling the induction at short notice is extremely unfair to the students and their families. If the university knew there were challenges with the induction arrangements, why wasn't this communicated to the students much earlier? Why allow people to make all these preparations before announcing a cancellation? This is fundamentally an issue of poor planning, communication and accountability. The students deserve better. The least the university management could have done was communicate transparently and give everyone sufficient notice.
