24hr Charity Row! URNU East Midlands will be taking part in a 24 hour charity row for The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC). We are honoured to support such an incredible charity and be able to do our part to help raise funds for the RNRMC! They play a vital role in supporting serving and former personnel of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, and Royal Fleet Auxiliary, as well as their families. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated and we thank you for supporting us in the charity row! justgiving.com/page/urnuem-r…

URNU EM returned to Drill Evenings from Xmas leave and took part in an inter-divisional Deck Hockey round-robin tournament. Deck Hockey is a traditional ‘flight deck’ sport, demonstrating to the students how our sailors are recreated at sea when the ships company (usually in the form of mess deck teams) ‘lock horns’ within a relatively small area of a flight deck. The traditional hockey puck is replaced with a ‘doughnut’ (made from rags and masking tape) which is used as currency to enter the competition. The students also took responsibility in officiating games and witnessed just how competitive Deck Hockey can become! Over 6 close matches Nottingham Division were victorious over Trent and Sherwood with 2 wins and a draw. The evening fostered teamwork and morale (along with a competitive edge) and was a positive way to welcome back the students, who will now embark on Naval Core Learning subjects over the upcoming period.
