Don't get me wrong i LOVED the CTB era ... not sure we can ever touch '14-'19, or need to -- but it was hard work & a model the game has moved on from.
So.. i can be glad for how this is shaping up NOW, while still holding Tony Bennett up as my all time biggest sports idol.

"Key to season: Outside shooting. The Cavaliers graduated 193 3-pointers. The floor is high for this team with the return of Thijs De Ridder and Johann Grunloh up front. De Ridder could be an All-America, but he needs space to produce those kinds of numbers."

gonna be a lot of this.
Is Ty Jerome full time all the time? Tonight is a new place for him, starting the back to back nights .. will his minutes be limited?
What does Ty Jerome remember about his national championship teammates. This is fun. Guess who was 2d on the team in steals?tiktok.com/t/ZTfVLg5Jj/

Through three games, Ty Jerome is averaging more than a point per minute on 56/43/89 shooting splits — which, obviously, is ridiculous.
What's even more ridiculous, though ... is that it might not actually be that ridiculous? tinyurl.com/uaz69x8
12. Ty Jerome is untradable.
"It has to be mentioned. Jerome leads the NBA in scoring, at 34.7 points per game. In a comeback win over the Warriors on Friday night, he yelled “and-fucking-1!” in Draymond Green’s face several times, and the greatest defender of his generation could do nothing about it. Jerome is regularly drilling 3s from several feet behind the arc and has drawn more shooting fouls than Tyrese Maxey and Luka Doncic. His PER is 36.9, and his usage rate is higher than that of Jayson Tatum, Jalen Brunson, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander."
"I’m not exactly sure what’s happening here, but I am more than prepared for a world where Jerome (at 29 years old!) becomes an actual star."

Ho hum night for Ty Jerome so far. 31 points, 14-14 from the line, 6 assists and a dagger of a deep three over Darius Acuff, late.
Game not over though!

Gravity that creates open shots is exactly the kind of impact RAPM and EPM are built to capture, beyond scoring alone. Ty Jerome at +3.6 APEX/36 is a useful example of that kind of understated impact. apexhoops.fyi/player/1629660…

Steph on the NBA's early leading scorer Ty Jerome:
"I know he's happy to be healthy and he's obviously gotten a lot better since he was here. He was great player when he was here, but he's got a full green light over there to kind of do whatever he wants and run their system, and initiate a lot of their scoring. He's a tough cover and got a lot of weapons around him...he's doing a great job"
Notes:
Who of Harmon-Vide-Dixon-Gertrude-Carrere are the 18-20 minute, versus 8-10 minute wing guys not named Mallory or Lewis, feels wide open. TWO will settle in IMO -- no way each plays 13 min.
Also, Barksdale not looking like he'll be in the rotation.

Like last year, they have a chance to have a SPECIAL season
Ryan Odom can still really coach
"Steph Curry, who mentored Jerome during their time together w the Warriors, became a lifeline."
"Curry shared his personal support team & specialized support braces that he has worn for 10 years, checked in regularly, & offered more than just advice."
"He offered belief 🙌 "
Ty Jerome’s story isn’t about flash or fame. It’s about resilience 😤
After a series of devastating injuries: hip surgery in high school, groin surgery with the Thunder, and a season-ending ankle operation in 2024, Jerome was left searching for purpose while the game moved on without him…
But even at his lowest, he wasn’t alone.
Steph Curry, who mentored Jerome during their time together with the Warriors, became a lifeline.
Curry shared his personal support team and specialized support braces that he has worn for 10 years, checked in regularly, and offered more than just advice.
He offered belief 🙌
And it all paid off in his explosive Grizzlies season-opening debut yesterday:
🔸 45 points
🔸 17-25 FG
🔸 5-10 3PT
Jerome now holds the record for the most points scored by a Grizzlies player in a season opener, beating the previous record of 44 set by Ja Morant.
He fought his way back from the margins of the league, and in doing so, earned a place not just on the floor, but in the heart of Memphis’s new era.
And for that, he deserves maximum respect 🫡
