The stock market is going to be nationalized instead of letting it collapse. This is the next bailout, and we're already underway. Since ~2020, companies themselves have been the only net purchaser of stocks. Retirement funds have been net sellers since the 00's. Ditto the public. Ditto foreign investors. Ditto institutions. Companies are putting ~107% of free cash blow into stock buybacks. That's obviously unsustainable. They're doing it because they know big daddy government is coming to save them. From Trump accounts to AI nationalization to Elon's "charity", the taxpayer will now be responsible for propping up stocks. That's how they'll get public support: instead of stimulus checks, they'll airdrop stocks into people's hands. Per usual in these situations, people will think they're getting rich, not realizing prices at the grocery store will go up faster than their portfolios.
