Meet Kurt. From SABC interviews to global advocacy, Kurt has spent years challenging the conversation around tobacco harm reduction and amplifying lived experiences. The question remains: Are we doing enough to recognise the importance of harm reduction? #HarmReduction #THRGlobal

On 27 April 1994, millions of South Africans chose a better future. Today, millions choose freedom from smoking by switching to safer alternatives. If that’s you, share your story and what that freedom means. Thrglobal.org

“The suggestion that any country or advocate who supports harm reduction must be aligned with industry is unacceptable. It is an authoritarian approach that shuts down legitimate scientific discussion. Public health decisions should be based on evidence, not ideological purity tests,” said Nancy Loucas, Executive Coordinator of CAPHRA. bit.ly/4ijueL4

The @WHO is busy doing works of pure evil in Vietnam… where male smoking prevalence = 42% in 2024. Yet WHO demands stronger prohibitions of the far safer alternatives to cigarettes. Grotesque. Has @JeremyFarrar approved this unethical, anti-scientific crusade? #accountability
WHO: the National Assembly’s November 2024 ban on e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products should be appropriately reflected in all relevant legislation. One year ago, Viet Nam’s decision to ban e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products was a major public health victory and a global example of leadership for protecting health. To better protect young people in Viet Nam and ensure this ban can be effectively enforced, it must be fully reflected across all laws — including the Law on Investment (Article 6). This is necessary to safeguard both public health and Viet Nam’s global reputation as a champion for health. WHO urges the National Assembly to: 🔵 Include e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products in the list of prohibited business lines in the revised Investment Law; 🔵 Avoid any exceptions, such as permitting production for export, which could undermine public health objectives, as well as create significant enforcement challenges. Viet Nam’s bold action to comprehensively ban these harmful products has earned global recognition. Ensuring a consistent legal approach now is essential to better protect health and save young lives. Read WHO Viet Nam’s press release here: who.int/vietnam/news/detail/…
