Sometimes the most powerful insights come directly from the community! Strong communities aren't built by chance, they're built by people who lead with character, stand on principle, and look out for their neighbors. That's how we create lasting change and a brighter future for the next generation!

In 1969, the Black Panthers launched free breakfast programs across the US, feeding thousands of kids before school. The FBI called it a threat. In some cities, police raided kitchens, smashed food, and urinated on supplies to shut them down. A THREAD

⚠️ GRAPHIC CONTENT ⚠️ The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrested a Black mother outside her child’s school after an officer confronted her about leaving her car illegally parked and unattended. This level of force on an unarmed woman in a school pick-up line is outrageous! 🎥: Smiley Charles/Facebook

These mothers turned unimaginable grief into activism. Through Mothers Against Police Brutality, they’re not just seeking justice for their sons killed by law enforcement — they’re fighting to make sure no other family has to endure the same pain.✊🏾 brnw.ch/21wSZcn

The rollback of police-accountability agreements will only deepen the divide between law enforcement and the people they are sworn to protect and serve. Trust is built with transparency and accountability, not with denial and retreat! 📷: @WMCActionNews5

Today marks 5 years since Breonna Taylor was unjustly killed in her home by Louisville police. Her life was stolen, and we can only imagine the impact she would have made in her community as a nurse. Her name still echoes in the fight for justice — we’ll never stop saying it. Rest in Power, Bre. 🙏🏿

‼️INNOCENT BLACK MAN Robert Johnson is FINALLY FREE after 29 years in prison after being wrongly convicted of MURDER at 16. During the trial, no physical evidence or eyewitnesses tied Johnson to the crime. The victim’s girlfriend and sister both testified that Robert Johnson was NOT the k*ller. However, he was convicted based on testimony from a juvenile co-defendant who received a plea deal in exchange for false testimony. That co-defendant has since identified the real k*ller and that police forced him to falsely implicate innocent black teen Robert Johnson.

From our earliest days, Black history has always been American history – and Black folks have profoundly shaped our American culture through music, art, literature, sports, and beyond. One month a year is not sufficient to celebrate the power of the movements and the people who have fought for the rights we enjoy today. That’s something that we have to do each and every day, as we strive to live up to their example and make sure our children and grandchildren remember their stories.

In the black community, New Year’s Day used to be widely known as 'Hiring Day' or 'Heartbreak Day', because enslaved people spent New Year’s Eve waiting, wondering if their owners were going to rent them out to someone else, thus potentially splitting up their families. The renting out of slave labor was a relatively common practice in the antebellum South, and a profitable practice for white slave owners and hirers.

A Black woman in her own home called 911 due to a burglar in her home. This officer came in and shot her and refused for his partner to render aid to her. Say her name: Sonya Massey. Don’t remain silent. Stand up for her and fight. This should not have happened…
