Critical pro wrestling fan. Calling out hypocrites, tribalist fans, and wrestling "journalists" since 2021. Not a Dave Meltzer puppet.

As a wrestling fan, 2025 was the most checked out I'd been in a long time. Needless to say, most of 2026 has only caused me to withdraw even further. The only things that moved me in 2026 were the El Grande vs. El Grande match in AAA, and AEW's PAC tribute show. (1/4)
Any longtime wrestling fans completely checked out of wrestling as a whole? WWE, AEW, TNA, NJPW, all of it? I checked out after Cena’s retirement, came back after SummerSlam, and just 3 months later, I’m fucking drained again. After 20+ years as a wrestling fan, it just isn’t fun anymore. Feels like I’ve seen every storyline, promo, match and move there is to see. Nothing excites me like it used to. I’m checking out again, and this time, for real. I’ll just revisit the wrestling from the past that I genuinely had fun watching. SO ADIÓS, TODAY’S WRESTLING. 🫡

AEW's weekly TV feels inessential. While the PPVs are usually good, they're overstuffed with 20+ minute matches and a chore to get through. The builds are often rushed, and matches often feel thrown together. Plus, the women's division still isn't given opportunities. (3/4)

TNA is fine, I guess, but never really hits the highs of WWE or AEW. As a near-lifelong fan, it pains me to say that nothing current is scratching that wrestling itch for me. WrestleMania XL feels like an industry-wide reset button was pressed, and not for the better. (4/4)

It’s been nearly two years since Blake/Mariah last appeared on AEW TV. I swear, she lives rent free in some of your heads. Some of you are obsessed with hoping she fails, and for what? Because she left for WWE? What happened to support the wrestler, not the promotion? (1/3)
Blake Monroe will never reach these levels again in WWE.

She’s 28 years old and has a bright future ahead of her. Sure, she was world champion in AEW, but she often felt like an afterthought. She felt secondary to Mercedes and Toni. Speaking of Toni, I don’t think she’s reached the level of The Hollywood Ending since either. (2/3)

What has she done since? Just continued on with the same tired Timeless character and having meaningless tag matches with Mina Shirakawa. She’s only 31 and time will tell if either reach that level again. Of course you won’t admit that, though, because she stayed with AEW. (3/3)

He’s Sting. If Meltzer didn’t think he was Hall of Fame-worthy in 2016, you have to question whether or not Dave is really a wrestling fan. Sting’s body of work in NWA/WCW alone makes him a lock for any wrestling hall of fame. His TNA run really makes it a no-brainer. (1/3)
Reminder that Sting wasn't worthy until he went to AEW in Dave's self-fellating fake HOF. @davemeltzerWON

His WWE stint was lacklustre and ultimately too brief to even matter. He obviously hadn’t had his AEW run by 2016, but it doesn’t really matter. He had already cemented his legacy by then. It was just a way for him to finish his career on his own terms. (2/3)

It’s just another example of Dave suddenly favouring a wrestler he dismissed, just because they joined AEW. Danielson and Edge/Cope never had a 5-star match before AEW. Sting wasn’t HOF worthy until he got to AEW. We get it. You like AEW, but it’s a bit ridiculous. (3/3)

For someone who considers himself to be a journalist, Dave Meltzer really has no journalistic integrity. There’s no reason to believe WWE was behind Ilja Dragunov’s visa issues, yet he baselessly speculates that they were behind it to further an agenda. (1/3)

Why are we acting like WWE wrestlers aren’t subject to visa issues too? If you aren’t American and work in the US, it can happen to you. Dave’s colleague Bryan Alvarez seems to know this, considering he reported they were dealing with significant visa issues back in June. (2/3)

WWE, AEW, ROH, STARDOM, they’ve all dealt with visa issues in 2026. Dragunov’s situation might’ve been made more difficult because he’s Russian, and most of the world (including the US) isn’t on speaking terms with Russia. No, though, must be WWE’s fault. (3/3)

Remember when WWE did this to Brodie Lee and you said they were evil for doing so? Support the wrestlers, not the promotion. All that jazz. Now, the shoe is on the other foot and you're saying Dralistico shouldn't have signed the contract and AEW is well within its rights. (1/2)

I don't care which promotion you prefer. Either it's all OK, or none of it is. If you hated on WWE for freezing contracts due to injury back in 2019, you shouldn't be defending AEW for doing the same now. If you'd blame Vince for it, you should blame Tony as well. (2/2)

This is misleading, to say the slightest. Amber Nova has never been signed to AEW, nor does she represent the company. She happened to work a handful of matches for AEW on Dark and Elevation in 2021 and 2022, just as she worked a couple of matches on NXT in 2019.

Tell me again how AEW is "real pro wrestling" and not "sports entertainment." Aubrey counting it as a pin makes it 10x goofier and an even bigger eyeroll. This is the same sports entertainment that AEW fans claim to be against, when WWE does it. Two sides of the same coin. (1/2)

This is on par with the Sami Zayn-Gingerbread Man and JD McDonagh-Funko Pop stuff. It's just as bad of a comedy spot as most of what Danhausen does. Personally, it doesn't matter whether it's AEW or WWE doing it. I have no use for any of it. Get it all off my TV. (2/2)

I don't understand where people got the idea I think they're all homegrown WWE talent from. I never once said they were, because I know they're not. The majority established their names elsewhere. I said they were all on the WWE roster this past January, which is true. (1/3)
Tommaso Ciampa, The Motor City Machine Guns, Kofi, Austin Creed, and now seemingly Ilja Dragunov all signed to one company. Do you really want AEW to be an alternative, or do you just want to watch WWE from this past January?

Kofi is 100% a WWE guy. I'd argue Austin Creed as well. He was there more than 5x as long as he was ever in TNA, and his NJPW stint was a cup of coffee. Ciampa made his name in ROH, but I doubt Tony Khan only signed him for a 4-year body of work from over a decade ago. (2/3)

MCMG's legacy is in TNA, but they've done some good work in ROH and NJPW. WWE was just a pit stop. Dragunov made a name in wXw, but that's a promotion you have to actively seek out to watch. It's easy to have not seen it. Now, can we stop putting words in my mouth? (3/3)
