Today, representatives from Improvement Teams across the #FoundationGroup met at Stratford to start planning for a programme of FG improvement events.
It is always wonderful to spend time with people who are enthusiastic about improvement.

61% of colleagues in the Acute Trust have completed Foundation Level Improvement System training.
Leaders….please ask how you can help your teams to apply the learning. What support do they need to 5S the workplace (to improve safety and quality for pts and staff)?

We are all too busy
Time is flying by
We have no time to do things
The only way to make time for things that matter is …to STOP doing things that don’t matter

Strategies, policies, business plans, project pipelines & reports are nothing if the culture is not right and equally, these things cannot improve the culture. etsy.com/uk/listing/15598651…

Today we have been listening to an improvement story from each Foundation Group organisation. Based on this word cloud, listeners loved hearing Jade (HCA) talk about how she led the redesign of bedside boards following her #4WardImprovementSystem training.
We are proud of Jade.

What a day! Over 500 people have participated in the amazing first day of our Foundation Group Improvement Week! We’ve been inspired by @HelenBevan and been taught some wonderful tools & techniques by the improvement teams across our 4 NHS Trusts. Who’s with us tomorrow?

No one expects the entire NHS to change overnight – but no one has to wait years for results either. Find small things you can improve now, and use that progress to inform and inspire further improvement

The "Butterfly Effect" describes the impact small changes can have on a larger system as the impact ripples through the system. It's based on the idea that a butterfly can flap its wings & the cumulative ripple results in a tornado. The same can happen in organisations. Change starts with one person giving voice to a problem or new idea that (somehow) gains momentum. It's impossible to know in advance which influences will have the greatest impact, so we have to keep testing ideas to see which gain the most traction. What small changes can you make to disrupt the organisation dynamics that reinforce a problem you are facing? medium.com/painless-manageme… By @WirthRoss

7-year-old @ManUtd super fan Anderson has been a patient in our Children’s Cancer Clinic since his diagnosis.
Having now completed his treatment he got a truly special surprise last week, getting to meet his hero @agarnacho7
Anderson has been receiving supportive care from our Children’s Cancer Clinic team, but recently rang our End of Treatment Bell and celebrated in clinic with a Man United-themed cake.
Thank you to @ManUtd for arranging this incredible surprise for Anderson 🙏
A magical day for an inspiring little boy ❤️
Seven-year-old cancer survivor and massive Red, Anderson, recently visited Carrington for an experience he'll never forget... ✨

Stop making assumptions or judging people based on salary, job title or education (or how they look!)
Judge based on actions, approach, behaviours and attitudes
People have many skills & can give so much more when you stop treating them as a label or putting them in a box🏷

This is how the improvement team are deepening their learning about the #4WardImprovenentSystem
All of us enjoy our education role.
@WAHTImprove
One of the most effective ways we can learn something new is to teach it to others. It’s called the "tutor effect": we gain and retain knowledge when we explain it to other people. Helping others with something we haven’t nailed yet ourselves can move us closer to expertise. HT Marissa Solomon Shandell @ResearchDoodles on Instagram: instagram.com/researchdoodle…
