DAY 3 HIGHLIGHT | AWA INVESTMENT ARBITRATION TRAINING The final day of the 2026 African Women in Arbitration (@WArbitration ) Investment Arbitration Training featured a presentation by Dr. Crispus Nyombi on the Africanisation of investor-state arbitration, highlighting its application and relevance in the African context. Participants then took part in a mock arbitration exercise that brought together lessons covered throughout the training. Divided into two teams representing investor Orion Resources and the Republic of Kintaba, participants examined key aspects of investor-state arbitration, including jurisdiction, admissibility of claims and the merits of a dispute. The exercise provided a practical opportunity to apply the concepts learned, with Mr. Gustavo Laborde serving as the chief arbitrator and guiding participants through the arguments presented by both teams. The training concluded with the awarding of certificates to participants and partner institutions, including the Centre for Arbitration and Dispute Resolution (@CADR_MoJCA ), the Uganda Law Society and Mr. Laborde, in recognition of their participation and contribution to the programme. A networking cocktail followed, marking the close of the two-day training organised by AWA in collaboration with @CADR_MoJCA under the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs. @MoJCAUG #InvestmentArbitration #AWA #CADR #MoJCA
