Another year, another budget, another opportunity for the Conservatives to ignore our proposals to improve our communities and residents’ lives. They’re happy to keep sleepwalking with your money… stop them.
An extra ÂŁ18m in council funding from our @UKLabour government, a sign that they meant it when they promised to improve services.
The Labour Group joined others in commemorating #HolocaustMemorialDay and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.
We join others in working “for a better tomorrow”, the theme of this year’s memorial, and swearing “never again”.
Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing over the next few nights. If you or anyone you know are homeless or do not have a place to go this weekend, please contact the council as below.
Stay safe out there

⚠️ @metoffice warning issued for a risk of heavy snow.
Valid midday Saturday until 9am Monday.
Given the uncertainties, it is quite likely this warning area and start/end times will be refined over the coming days as confidence increases in areas most likely to be impacted.
Our statement following the Regulator of Public Housing finding serious failings in @WestNorthants's social housing
As flooding continues to affect Northants this morning, it should be a wake-up sign to the Tory administration on @WestNorthants to stop firefighting when it happens and start looking at flood prevention.
This is what our motion to Council this Thursday asks:
SERIOUS INCIDENT DECLARED FOR FLOODING IN NORTHANTS
-Please only ring 999 if there is a danger to life
-Flood warning remains in Billing Aquadrome
-Several routes still closed
Please follows safety advice and check flood map:

Very concerning to hear about the data collection issues at @NPH_news, especially finding that thousands rather than hundreds were living in sub-decent homes.
It’s good to see @WestNorthants Council and NPH working together to improve, but we have failed residents
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them.

The Labour group is furious that @WestNorthants has been driven by the administration to a situation where staff are being asked to consider redundancy or reducing hours to make ends meet.
Services are stretched as it is, residents can’t take much more
