Welcome to the first day of National #SafeguardingAdultsWeek 2025💚
This year’s theme is Prevention: Act Before Abuse
During Safeguarding Adults Week 2025, we’ll be collaborating with our partners to explore a different theme each day.
Working in partnership allows us to share our knowledge of safeguarding, learn from others and ultimately create safer cultures
Throughout the week, we’re encouraging people to take a closer look at their approach to prevention. We want individuals and organisations to ensure that prevention is embedded in their policies and procedures.
Cumbria Safeguarding Adults Board are offering an online learning event tomorrow to practitioners: Learning from Domestic Abuse Related Death Reviews. Book your place: eventbrite.com/e/learning-fr…

Two key takeaways from this year’s #SaferSleepWeek:
(1) A firm, flat, clear sleep space helps keep your baby’s airway clear and open
(2) Products that aren’t firm AND flat aren’t suitable for naps or sleeps

⛔ Stop! You might be surprised how many common baby products are not suitable for sleep. ALWAYS check the manufacturer’s instructions before using! A product is not suitable for sleep if it isn’t firm AND flat.

We recommend bed-sharing families have a back-up sleep space such as a cot or Moses basket. This is because family circumstances can change from sleep to sleep, making co-sleeping dangerous. More info here: bit.ly/3IYZcXK #SaferSleepWeek

Babies should only sleep on a surface that is firm and flat so move them to a firm, flat surface such as a cot or Moses basket if they fall asleep in one of these:
-
⚜️ Baby bouncer / rocker
⚜️ Hammock
⚜️ Baby swing
⚜️ Beanbag
⚜️ Pod / nest
⚜️ Highchair

In an emergency, you may not have access to a cot or Moses basket. If you have a pram carrycot or travel cot, these are good alternatives because they are still firm and flat. For more advice about safer sleep in emergency situations, download our guide: bit.ly/44TJExz
