Ok so here’s an example of what I was saying in the other post. Aegislash is “beyond ridiculous” in the current meta as you can see on the left. But also, Aegislash has lots of counters as you can see on the right. Some counters are in the current meta (licki/sableye/regi/swamp, etc.), but several more are not in the current meta (Greedent, Dub, Coffin, Rune, etc.) meaning that if Aegi became the new dominant Pokémon, then we’d see those non-meta mons rise up to counter it, resulting in a shift in the meta AND anti-meta. By “balancing” Toxapex, Araquanid, Clodsire, Aegislash, we aren’t protecting the meta from OP mons, we’re just protecting the existing OP mons that have dominated the meta for a very long time, namely Medicham. On the other hand, introducing new “broken” mons (aka dominant, meta-defining mons) every season, alongside some move updates, will bring regular shifts to the meta that would be more interesting to play IMO. Either way, I enjoy this game and I have a Medi/Licki built so I’ll be fine if the meta stays the same 😅🤷🏼‍♂️
