Wow! Big news today!
Soon Discord messages will be indexable on Google. If you're in a public Discord which is discoverable, and has not changed its privacy settings, any messages posted moving forward can be found from search engines!
Hooray!!!!!1 (I think this is very bad)

.....why?! Who in the world wants their Discord messages searchable on Google??
Turn that garbage off immediately.
Account Settings > Data & Privacy > Disable "Show my message content on web pages"
While you're at it, disable all the other scummy data collection Discord does.
Discord will soon make public server messages searchable on Google
The feature will be enabled by default for US adults, but users can opt out in their privacy settings
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Missing context: only applies to messages posted after the update, in public channels of discoverable servers.
No private servers or DMs.
Indexed messages won’t show usernames or avatars.
Admins can opt out entire servers; users can opt out their own messages.

Valve says it's "fully aware" of the AI slop flooding Steam.
Rather than filtering developers, Valve wants to improve discovery. Next Fest shows games almost at random for the first two days, and wishlists alone don't boost your Steam visibility. People actually buying and playing your game does.
Tom Giardino highlighted the shift in scale. Just three years ago, he was going around trying to convince developers to participate, saying, "There are only 50 or 100 games, so you should definitely join," but now the number of participating titles reaches into the thousands. He described it as "the pendulum swinging to the opposite side."
"We don't think we're perfect and there's plenty of room for improvement," but added, "Rather than limiting developer access, making Steam a smarter and more dynamic platform is the starting point of our philosophy."

Sony has suffered a massive data breach affecting around 2.58 million So-net and plala customers.
Sony Network Communications says hackers accessed its member database on October 19. Leaked information includes:
• Names
• User IDs
• Email addresses
• Other customer information
• 16 bank account records, including account numbers and bank names
The company says it has not found any leaked credit card numbers or expiration dates, and it does not store customers’ bank PINs.
Sony says the affected servers have been shut down and the unauthorized connections blocked, while internet services continue to operate.

Sharing your messages is on by default in some regions, including the US, so you’ll want to turn that off.

Cyberpunk 2 is looking more and more likely to have multiplayer.
A new CD Projekt RED job listing for a Lead Quest Programmer specifically mentions experience with multiplayer network architecture and client-server synchronization for game state and quests.
That follows previous Cyberpunk 2 job listings focused on online systems, matchmaking and network technology.
CDPR still hasn’t officially confirmed a multiplayer mode, so we don’t know exactly what form it would take. It could be online co-op, a separate multiplayer mode, or something else.

Only in the video game industry can some doofus tell you that selling a million copies of a game is a flop or didn't meet expectations so the IP is killed.
A million people bought that IP - it seems the "not meeting expectations" is an executive fuck up of not living in reality.
If you spent SO much money on something you NEED to sell more than a million to break even, you are already fucking up before you started.
Somehow this core piece of information got lost along the way. Somehow - being when people who don't make or play video games make the biggest decisions about how they get made, funded and distributed.

Discord is about to put your public messages on Google
Discord will start making messages from Discoverable public servers searchable on Google and other search engines from mid-December.
The feature is ON by default in most regions, but you can opt out:
User Settings → Data & Privacy → turn off “Show my message content from Discoverable channels on web pages.”
In the EU, UK, Canada, Brazil, Australia and South Korea, it will be OFF by default.
Private servers, DMs and group DMs are not included. Usernames and avatars won’t appear alongside indexed messages.

A new PSN security issue lets attackers bypass passwords and two-factor authentication.
Players have reported unknown family members being added to their PlayStation Network accounts without permission
The biggest problem is that these added family members could potentially be used to access personal information, including saved payment details.
One affected user contacted PlayStation Support directly, and apparently even support doesn’t have a clear answer yet on what’s actually causing it.
For now, the advice is to:
• Reset your PSN password
• Change the email used for your PSN sign-in ID
• Check your Family Management for accounts you don’t recognize
• Contact PlayStation Support if anything looks suspicious
Sony still hasn’t publicly confirmed what’s behind the issue.

Reddit’s largest open-source community, r/opensource, has introduced new rules banning projects that use AI, are built with AI, or are made for AI.
The new rules say projects must be at least 1 year old, have multiple contributors, and be posted by someone who speaks English.
They also warn users that if they post AI-generated content or “LLM output tokens,” they can be permanently banned.
Don’t speak English? The rules literally say you “need to find a different community” because moderators say they can’t tell AI-written English from AI-translated English.
The moderators say Linux is still allowed
