Deeply humbled to take part in my third Calgary Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge — one of the very few civilians invited to compete alongside first responders from across North America and the world.
This powerful event exists thanks to Kathy Blas, who created it in honour of her brother, fallen firefighter Gord Paul. What began as her tribute has grown into an incredible, rousing force for good — raising critical funds for Wellspring Alberta to support firefighters and families facing cancer.
1,370 steps. 57 floors. Full gear. And a community that never quits. We climb because of people like Kathy. We climb for heroes like Gord.
And we climb until no firefighter faces cancer alone.

What happens when more than 400 firefighters & civilians climb 57 storeys to raise money for firefighters and their families who are facing cancer? You create a movement that funds @WellspringAB to provide free cancer support programs. Well done, Calgary!
