I know stories like this are supposed to make Paul VI look better, but they just make him look rather weak and also like an old grandpa with dementia
A famous story from the 1970 liturgical reforms: Pope Paul VI entered the sacristy expecting red vestments for the Octave of Pentecost, only to find green. When he asked why, his Master of Ceremonies reminded him that he himself had abolished the octave. Paul VI wept.

To defend the (pre-conciliar) Jesuits, they weren't really founded to convert Protestants, but for missions. And they made real achievements in overcoming Protestantism in southern Germany and the Commonwealth. They were well on the way to converting Japan before the gov't began
The Dominicans were founded to convert the Albigensians. The Jesuits were founded to convert the Protestants. When was the last time you met an Albigensian? It is time to admit the Jesuits have been bad at their mission for centuries.

a policy of total annihilation, there were massive conversions of Indians in North and South America, massive work serving those continents, they Christianized the Goans to 90%, Christianized the Philippines, etc.

You can cancel an election and ban the winner from running (Romania), you can ban your opponents from ever running again (Hungary), you can threaten to ban the main opposition party and subject it to relentless investigations by the secret police (Germany), you can threaten a ban on the leading presidential candidate and make them wear an ankle monitor (France), every member of your circle can be investigated for corruption (Spain), you can try and cancel local elections because you will lose them (Britain), and you can storm the constitutional court with riot police because you want to control it (Poland). You can just do all these things. The secret is you just have to be on the right side of the European Commission.

It's nice of His Eminence to clarify that the most charitable interpretation of his words is in fact not the one he intended
Terrific response by Cardinal Jean-Paul Vesco to @BishopBarron disgraceful attack on his integrity. Vesco speaks from the Church, Barron for himself.

Jim Jones was an atheist who left everything in his will to the Soviet Union He justified his murder of Congressman Ryan: "You can’t take off with people’s children without expecting a violent reaction ... even if we were Judeo-Christian, even if we weren’t Communists."
Fox: Why are you here this morning? Trump rally attendee: Well, in the late 70s, I was a little too young to go to South America for the Jonestown Massacre. But this is as close as I'll ever get, so that's why I'm here. There's nothing like seeing a cult right up front.

He was also extremely pro-black. He and others on the death tapes complained that most of the defectors were white. Angela Davis and Huey Newton would radio in supportive messages to the group. On the death tapes he said "Are we black, proud and Socialist, or what are we?"

"diverse" is a euphemism for "non-white"
I’m proud to have the most talented, hardest-working cabinet in Virginia’s history. They are also the most diverse cabinet Virginia has ever seen. Every single one of our cabinet secretaries were selected because they’re the best of the best in their respective fields. They also bring invaluable perspectives from across the Commonwealth — from Danville, Hampton Roads, Richmond, NOVA, and more. I’m grateful to get to work with these incredibly dedicated, hard-working, and talented cabinet officials to serve the Commonwealth of Virginia. richmond.com/opinion/column/…

Pope Francis equated 'proselytism' with "apologetics" or "convictions" or "persuasion". He said "proselytizing is about convincing" Francis was very clear about what he meant. Using arguments to convince others to become Catholic is what Francis explicitly condemned. Vesco too
In American English, evangelize & proselytize mean more or less the same thing, but in romance languages, evangelize means that while proselytize refers to pushing the faith on others by unjust means. Pope Francis was misunderstood on this point as well. Can we stop repeating this mistake, please?

I got a VPN recently to watch some British shows and every single commercial has black people in it. The ads make Britain seem like it's Atlanta
13% of the population and in 95% of the commercials

Our analysis suggests that Afghans are convicted of sex crimes in England and Wales at seven times the British rate. But the numbers need to be kept in perspective economist.com/britain/2026/1…

"Let both swords of the faithful fall upon the necks of the foe, in order to destroy every high thing exalting itself against the knowledge of God, which is the Christian faith" - St. Bernard "to fight in the name of religion means attacking religion itself" - Leo XIV
I don’t want to popesplain here but its fairly easy to rationalize this with the preconciliar magisterium if you just look at this in isolation and not his writings on just war theory. Warfare is a biproduct of the fall. That doesn’t mean a war cannot be justified nor heroism cannot be found.

The communist abolishes property so that none may own; the industrialist concentrates it so that few may rule. The Distributist multiplies owners until both tyrannies die.

>Later in the interview, His Eminence said: “In monotheistic religions, proselytism is poison, because it implies considering the other person’s religion false.” The Vatican, the Curia, and the College of Cardinals are riddled with heretics
LATEST: Cardinal Vesco says the Catholic Church is “not there to convert” The Archbishop of Algiers said: “We are the Church of this people. Not a proselytising Church, not a Church that is there to convert, but a Church that aspires to be one of the components of this people.” He called proselytism “poison” because it treats another person’s religion as false, and argued Christians should choose fraternity over seeing themselves as a “besieged fortress.” Read the full report at @RealAdVaticanum advaticanum.com/article/card…
