To the people ragging on BBC's Joe Tidy for not knowing about PHP: Guess what? Nor did 99% of the general public. It is a journalist's job to help people understand complex subjects. We're writers, not technicians - we speak to the experts. (P.S. Joe is the best in the biz.)
