โฌ๏ธโฌ๏ธโฌ๏ธ They've purposefully put the witch hunter general in charge of the Committee overseeing the Conversion Therapy Bill.
I want you all to know this.
There are 650 MPs in Parliament. Yet the one MP chosen by @UKLabour to Chair the Bill Committee for the controversial, dangerous and dismally bad draft legislation, the Conversion Practices Bill, is Alex Barros-Curtis. Until July 2024, when Alex was given a very safe Labour seat in Cardiff, he was the Head of the Labour Party's Governance and Legal Unit in London. This was a department set up to investigate complaints against members of the Labour Party. Complaints of antisemitism, Islamophobia, abuse, and of course latterly, mostly women holding legally-protected 'Gender Critical' (sex realist) beliefs. Alex oversaw the investigation of hundreds of members who liked or tweeted gender critical or feminist views. I was one of them. He investigated me, as a sitting Labour MP, for 13 months.
13 months to 'investigate' one like of one tweet. I had a great lawyer, one of the names we're all now familiar with, and I had to crowdfund to pay for his (excellent) work.
They first tried in 2020. But the screenshots crudely attached to that passive aggressive, threatening-sounding email from LP admin staff were so risible that I replied that it was too ridiculous for me to waste my precious time on. They left it. Years of Starmer bumbling and stuttering through interviews about whether he had spoken to me, whether he supported me, etc followed. My feminist sins continued apace.
And then I 'liked' a tweet by my GC comedian friend @Glinner. He had mocked Eddie'Suzy' for comparing his choice to wear traditional women's clothing, fake plastic breasts and nails, to those being persecuted by the Nazis during WWII. I found his sarcasm, as a award-winning comedy writer in the face of such offensive narcissism amusing and so 'liked' it. I found it absurd and obscene that Izzard, an extremely privileged and wealthy man, who openly changed his 'gender' at will, should write himself into history falseley as someone who would have been oppressed due to a circumstance beyond his control. We all know the groups who were tortured, starved and killed...
There is obviously more to my story, I will tell it all, it's just one chapter of the years of spiteful abusive and bullying practices meted out to me by the Labour Party managers. Not those who'd achieved office on merit, or even unexpectedly, but those in the club, often having failed to be elected themselves.
So Barros-Curtis who we were repeatedly told led 'the many *independent* inquiries into women members and MPs like me, now often stands as a trans-rights activist on the Labour backbenches. He has also been gifted the role of Chair of this Committee and is a huge supporter of this Bill. And I am not a part of the Bill Committee, although plenty of TRA MPs are. Does that sound like the democratic scrutiny of legislation to you?

"All conversion practices are abusive" & these practices include "attempts to convince someone". Listening to this astonishing evidence from Stonewall whilst musing on the fact that the meaning of "transgender identity" is "saying that you're the opposite sex to your sex". ๐ค

โWe could amend this Bill here, there and everywhere, carve out this, tweak that, but at the end of the day the government would still be passing a Bill that says thereโs one area, and one area only, of medical practice where you could get prosecuted if you put a foot wrong. That wonโt be a chilling effect, thatโll be a deep freezeโ

You actively pursued policies that discriminated against and harmed women and girls.
The time for talk has long passed. This government is putting its money where its mouth is when it comes to supporting women and girls.
We'll back practical action to confine misogyny to the history books - in public services, workplaces, and online.

When you hear the term โprogressive politicsโ, be sure you understand what it means.
The bill to which Duffield refers would have been considered utterly Orwellian not too long ago. Itโs now considered โprogressiveโ.
Itโs a bill that could potentially criminalise parents for trying to prevent their children from making life-ruining decisions.
In truth, itโs Trojan horse legislation designed to protect a harmful and regressive ideology from any challenge by those who love children the most: their parents.
One might have thought this insane and authoritarian bill would be the lead story on every news bulletin. But large parts of the media, including my employer, the BBC, have been utterly captured by gender ideology, with its adherents occupying every tier of the editorial hierarchy.
Progressivism has become cult-like: it brooks no dissent, tolerates no divergence of opinion, punishes those who stray and takes every opportunity to tighten its grip and enforce adherence.
Those of us who remain independent of thought must continue to fight this movement without complacency or compromise.
Real harm is being caused to the voiceless and vulnerable.
Another meeting with expert psychotherapists, academics and experienced parents discussing the many potential harms of the terrible #CPBill #conversionbill. Some of us Parliamentarians have been steeped in this for several years, yet the Bill is being led through the House by those new MPs who had an agenda to push it as Labour Party activists and staffers. One drafted it, one is Chairing - and was the Head of Investigations against women like me. Women like me would have been blocked from joining the Bill Committee as a Labour MP, I have zero chance of getting near it and contributing now. Won't stop me finding other platforms to speak against it though, obviously...

The Darlington nurses featured prominently in this piece in the Telegraph today by @suzanne_moore :
'In another prominent case earlier this year, the Darlington nurses won a three-year battle against the County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust after being harassed and discriminated against for wanting a single-sex place to undress at work. The trust now has to provide single spaces in line with the law.
Bethany Hutchison, president of the Darlington Nurses Union, said they were asking for somewhere private to undress with no members of the opposite sex there. In response, the nurses were told to broaden their minds and be more โinclusiveโ. โWe were forced out of our own changing room, placed in inadequate facilities, threatened with disciplinary action and made to fear for our jobs and professional careers,โ she said.
The trust is now paying them ยฃ187,000 in compensation, but the case is a potent example of where we are in the general gender madness. Sentiment has changed, but itโs done so very belatedly, and Britainโs key institutions are lagging behind both law and public opinion. Most of us do not care about how anyone identifies โ we just want to protect our rights.'
