You know, Lord, the heart of the city: its lights and shadows, its noise and loneliness. Lord, may our urban communities be open and welcoming homes, places where hope is shared, where no one feels invisible, and where the joy of your Gospel shines in the hidden lives of so many brothers and sisters. Pope Leo XIV to the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Holy See:
“It is painful to see how, especially in the West, the space for genuine freedom of expression is rapidly shrinking. At the same time, a new Orwellian-style language is developing which, in an attempt to be increasingly inclusive, ends up excluding those who do not conform to the ideologies that are fueling it.”

My Canadian grandparents always used words like ‘cheque’ & ‘colour’.
They’d sit on the Chesterfield, which always had antimacassers.
Yet Carney’s British spellings are now somehow un-Canadian?

Former Disney CEO Michael Eisner weighs in on the @jimmykimmel firing - not impressed by the leadership of his successor @RobertIger in this case!
Where has all the leadership gone? If not for university presidents, law firm managing partners, and corporate chief executives standing up against bullies, who then will step up for the first amendment? The “suspending indefinitely” of Jimmy Kimmel immediately after the Chairman of the FCC's aggressive yet hollow threatening of the Disney Company is yet another example of out-of-control intimidation. Maybe the Constitution should have said, “Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, except in one’s political or financial self-interest.” By-the-way, for the record, this ex-CEO finds Jimmy Kimmel very talented and funny.
