It's pretty cool to see the resurgence of both the Gears and Call of Duty franchises. I can't say I saw that coming.

This is not a leak. At all.
I literally beat the game. That is all this comes from. This is my prediction based upon the ending/how much time is left until Gears Of War 1.
Please do not quote my speculation (especially when it's on my slop channel lmao)

I’ve seen the reports of Chiang being fired. Sources tell me she was indeed dismissed, and the internal explanation is a “policy violation.” Chiang is departing just days ahead of more Microsoft layoffs.
Xbox’s first chief operating officer is out after just a few months. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma revealed Helen Chiang is departing today in a short internal memo. Details 👇 theverge.com/news/1018037/xb…

It's mad not having to make huge compromises in AAA games on a handheld when it works well. 👏

Marvel's Blade “is nearing the end” of production with a source saying it “would be a monumental waste” to be cancelled at this stage.
It is completely beyond me why Xbox isn't pushing through with the release of this game on their own. I understand where Xbox is coming with some of their studio departures that happened, but in this case, it makes the least sense (with Marvel's Blade in mind). The Xbox community feels like it’s been asking for its own Marvel game for ten years. A "signature exclusive" game is practically being served to them on a silver platter here.

EXCLUSIVE:
Power Up Gaming has obtained an email from Microsoft that provides a bit more clarification on what Xbox Labs really is.
The email, which can be seen in the image below, states the following: "You're on the list. We're building the first XBOX Labs experiments right now, and we'll email you as soon as there's something to play."
This statement seems to indicate that the Xbox Labs team will primarily be creating playable game-like experiences, and not niche novelties like an Xbox 360 dashboard being usable in a browser.

The rush to declare Helix commercially unviable over an unconfirmed $1,800 price tag is a masterclass in turning speculation into a foregone conclusion. A rumour has become the basis for sweeping declarations that the hardware is doomed to fail. The BOM, pricing and subsidy model remain open questions, yet premature judgements are being made long before the facts are established.
The same intellectual dishonesty is creeping into the Gears E-Day discussion. A purported $500 million budget is being repeated as though Microsoft has published its accounts. People are already using that unverified number to construct elaborate arguments about the game's commercial viability and, by extension, Microsoft's entire exclusivity strategy.
But this approach isn't contingent on Gears E-Day alone becoming an extraordinary commercial success. The value of exclusivity extends beyond individual game sales, encompassing hardware differentiation, ecosystem engagement, Game Pass, software sales, recurring revenue, user acquisition and the long-term strength of the XBOX platform. Reducing the entire initiative to one game's eventual sales is reductive nonsense.
Xbox has been pretty quick to push back on false reporting lately, so it's worth pointing out they've been silent on Gears of War: E-Day.
That said, nobody outside Xbox knows the actual sales numbers.
One thing is clear, Gears was a huge budget game for Xbox.
A source tells Kotaku that Gears of War: E-Day cost over $500 million to make. Sales estimates have been weak despite earning the highest Metacritic score since the original trilogy.
If it was never going to recoup its expenses, maybe it could achieve more as an Xbox console exclusive kotaku.com/the-case-for-excl…

also fwiw i pushed back on the structure of the budget, not the budget itself, which i understand to represent the entire coalition and not specifically e-day. (they do stuff on other games) but that was how the old regime structured it, new regime might see it differently.

Mass Effect was my first assignment at Xbox.
It was a first-party game and an Xbox exclusive.
I'd arrived near the end of a very long development cycle. My job was to make sure it landed well with retailers, critics, and fans. And it really did.
The relationship was over almost as soon as it began. EA acquired BioWare just weeks before Mass Effect shipped, and management of the title was handed over in 2008.
I got to visit BioWare's headquarters in Edmonton and see the shelves crammed with every kind of role-playing game imaginable. It was an old-school creative culture producing something the world had never seen, both technically and as a work of storytelling.
What Drew Karpyshyn achieved as a writer, and the team achieved as world-builders, has never been quite equaled.
I'm glad I got to be a small part of it, however briefly.
