“Nobody in this clubhouse wants to play the baseball we’ve played the last couple of days. That’s not who we are.” The Rays, steady and composed all season, are unraveling on the World Series stage. Column, unlocked and free to read. nytimes.com/athletic/7720788…

Have seen 3 outs on the bases and 2 outfield misplays by the two old-school #fundamentals darlings today 🤔

Two SB attempts of 3B with two outs and the team's best hitter up. Each side did it. Not .. loving that.

I doubt these Rizzo comments get as much play.
Rizzo gives kudos to Boone and the Yankees organization for how they handled their presser

Joel Sherman has been a hack for multiple years at this point, but it makes sense that you think this.

Joel Sherman is the clear No. 1 in the Yankees media sphere right now

This is exactly how to be a leader , whether it’s a baseball manager , on the desk at a hedge fund, a manager at Walmart or anywhere .

Hal came out and blamed the players for the team's failure in the playoffs. This is the exact thing people demanded Boone do all year. Why is it now bad when Hal does it?

Aaron Boone is asked about his approach on public accountability: "There is probably a time and place for that, but generally speaking, to me that's not leadership. That's me giving red meat to people that want to be upset with somebody."

Joe Girardi, over his 10 years at the helm, managed through TWO different 3-year contracts, earning an extension after managing through each one Joe Torre only had to "manage for his job" one time, which would be the first of his 2 WS losses (2001) This follows a Cashman philosphy of letting contracts play out for managers
BREAKING: Aaron Boone will return as the Yankees' manager in 2027, according to Pete Caldera. It is the final year Boone is under contract. #Yankees

It’s surprising to me how many baseball fans are unfamiliar with the fact the sport already has a soft cap(luxury tax threshold). Why not just create a floor, say $100-120mm or teams can’t receive revenue sharing?
Propaganda I’m not falling for: To have a salary floor the league needs a cap

So many people are posting their salary cap thoughts. I'm not going to post mine; I'm just going to tell everyone something: Baseball is random.
