it's a month before playoffs, the Braves are trying to not blow a huge division lead, the Dodgers are by far their biggest extra-divisional rivals, guy has a career 5.94 ERA and is playing for a job...

Tyler Matzek is the author of one of the greatest #Braves moments I've ever witnessed. Been to thousands of games. Watched thousands more. Most of the time, you're just hoping to see something like this. He delivered.

Any programs out there that have painted their baseball field instead of overseeding with rye? I am looking for experiences, pros, cons….DM me please!

Drag bunt! Just imagine any player doing this against any type of modified shift. It’s there all day long! In my opinion, every hitter from HS and above should have this in their “tool box.” Never know when it might be the solution to a particular game situation. I have always said HS hitters can boost their batting average over .100 points if they know how to drag and push bunt. I would say the same is true for college players…At least .50 points. Not being able to bunt is about as bad as a LH pitcher with a bad pick-off move to 1B. No excuse for it. JS

Great time of year to share these lists. Many college freshman are seeing it unfold in front of their eyes. How many boxes can you check from the coaches list? @DirtBroUSA

Hard to believe it’s been 30 years since the Bash Brothers took out the entire Trinidad and Tobago team and scored a goal at the Junior Goodwill Games

Ground Ball 2B baby! All day long in Colt Country! @BaseballWSColts
Let's do this Runner at 2B, no outs. No other information is needed. Hitter A-Hits a ground ball to the right side and moves the runner Hitter B-Hits a line drive 105 mph to the 3B for an out. Which hitter had a more productive at bat?

Don't for a second think a Scout is there to see your “stats”. They're there to see the “other stuff”. Pre game work routine, what kind of teammate you are, handling adversity. They want to see WHO you are. They'll “make” the talent better and everyone they scout has it. They generally walk away from the guy who shows them idiocy, selfishness and laziness.
Believe it or not college recruiters and MLB scouts won’t mark you down for a bad game. In fact many would welcome the opportunity to see it. See how you handle yourself when things aren’t easy and smooth. They want to see how you handle adversity because at the next level you will be challenged in ways you haven’t been yet if you are in fact good enough to play at the next level. So instead of feeling embarrassed and thinking it’s the end of the world, step up and rise to the occasion. Show everyone how good you really are when you don’t have your best stuff.

Small sample size but I’ve just ran across 2 college coaching tweets referring to the transfer portal being open and they are looking for team 1st guys. Call me crazy but is a team 1st guy really looking to change teams?

And a spot on take it is!
Youth sports are not about obtaining a future scholarship. If you want a guaranteed scholarship, save all the money you will pay on travel ball and related expenses through the years. It will likely pay for 100% of college. The other best route is academics. Remember, most baseball scholarships are 25% - 30%. Thus, it is critical to keep perspective. Play for fun. Yes, do your best to be your best. But keep it fun. As a player grows and develops it will become evident in HS (at some point) if the next level might be a possibility. And even then, we must still keep it fun. If your sole motive is scholarship, you will likely lose out on so much of what the game has to offer. Just my take.

Steve Kerr's comments about AAU Basketball. “Even if today’s players are incredibly gifted, they grow up in a basketball environment that can only be called counterproductive. AAU basketball has replaced high school ball as the dominant form of development in the teen years. I coached my son’s AAU team for three years; it’s a genuinely weird subculture. Like everywhere else, you have good coaches and bad coaches, or strong programs and weak ones, but what troubled me was how much winning is devalued in the AAU structure. Teams play game after game after game, sometimes winning or losing four times in one day. Very rarely do teams ever hold a practice. Some programs fly in top players from out of state for a single weekend to join their team. Certain players play for one team in the morning and another one in the afternoon. If mom and dad aren’t happy with their son’s playing time, they switch club teams and stick him on a different one the following week. The process of growing as a team basketball player — learning how to become part of a whole, how to fit into something bigger than oneself — becomes completely lost within the AAU fabric.”

We should all stand up for coaches around the world who are just trying to lead by example! I’m suiting up this Friday night! 😂
