I didn’t decide to get into local politics for the sake of it. I worked full‑time whilst studying towards my degree part‑time, saved carefully, and bought my first home aged 23, believing that doing the "right thing" would bring some security. When I remortgaged two years later interest rates had doubled and I very nearly couldn’t afford to keep my own home. It was a real wake‑up call. That experience made it clear to me that the main parties no longer stand up for people who work hard and try to build a stable life. Reform offered an alternative that puts those who work, contribute, and play by the rules back at the centre of policy. #ReformUK

📚 Education or indoctrination? Year 9 pupils in St Albans are being taught The Crossing, a novel with a distinctly pro-refugee perspective. A pupil was referred to the deputy head for challenging its message. Schools should teach children HOW to think, not WHAT to think 🇬🇧

The Child Maintenance Service took nearly £20,000 it wasn't owed directly from a bank account and held it for a over a YEAR. What safeguards will prevent HMRC from making similar "mistakes"?

Replying to @RobertJenrick
@RobertJenrick trolling HMRC is absolutely priceless! Apparently, he's in a relationship with the taxman, and judging by his description, it's a bloody toxic one! They take half his money, ignore his calls, and still demand to know exactly who he's been doing business with! 🤣 And the worst part? You can't even end the relationship. They'll investigate you for trying to leave! Probably the most accurate description of HMRC I've ever seen. 😂👏

Some chatter on social media would have you believe that crime is out of control. The facts tell a different story. As @frasernelson has shown in his Substack today: Violence is at its lowest level since the crime survey began in 1981. Robbery is at a record low. Crime, excluding fraud, is 78% down on its peak in 1995. And the stats show this Government is delivering on its promises too: Knife crime is down 11%. Knife murders are at their lowest level in 35 years. Thefts including phone snatching have fallen by 20% in the last year alone. But I know there is more that we must do, and we will: We’ve put more than 3,800 extra neighbourhood officers into roles, with named, contactable officers for every neighbourhood. We’re introducing the most significant reforms to policing in a generation. We are tackling rising rates of violence against women and girls through our landmark strategy. And we are tackling crimes like fraud, more prevalent in our increasingly online world, with £250 million directed to this challenge in our Fraud Strategy published this year.

I see that certain demographics are still immune from all scrutiny 🙄 One of the fundamental rules of firearms safety is to keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to fire, regardless of whether the chamber is empty. Police officers, of all people, should know this instinctively. When an officer handles a firearm incompetently, it's the public who could pay the price. We have every right to question it. This should be an opportunity for you and Fiona to address legitimate safety concerns, not dismiss valid criticism as prejudice.
Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley has responded to the unacceptable online abuse directed at a Met officer who received an award at yesterday's annual Police Federation Conference. PC Fiona Shaik Umar was recognised for the outstanding contribution she has made for women in policing.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The vast majority of criticism was not because she is Muslim, but because she was not following very basic gun safety rules. Her finger was on the trigger and she pointed the barrel of the gun at a fellow officer. gunsafetyrules.nra.org hunter-ed.com/muzzleloader/s… x.com/BasilTheGreat/… x.com/WilkieisBack66… x.com/LozzaFox/statu…

I want to tell you about one of the people ITV psychologically damaged, who does not appear in any documentary. He is a Reform member in Portsmouth. He served as a Royal Marine in Afghanistan and Iraq, with distinction. One of ITV's undercover reporters told him they shared the same military background. That was a lie. The Marine, believing him, took him for a drink. They spent hours talking about their 'shared' service. He shared deeply personal stories from the front line. He thought he was talking to a friend who had been through the same things. He has since learned that the man across the table was an actor with a hidden camera, sent by a television company to damage the party he volunteers for. Violated. That's the word he used, and I'm not going to soften it. A man who put his life on the line for this country had his most private memories extracted by deception for a TV programme. ITV should be ashamed.

Hello to all my followers and all my @reformparty_uk family. I hope you’re all well😊 Thought I’d share a positive update with how my treatment has been going so far. Last Monday 12th Oct was my first of many chemotherapy treatments. I’m being treated by an incredible medical team in Harley Street, London W1, who explained how the treatments each week will go. We start by taking bloods and wait for those to come back from the lab so they know how much of each drug and dose to give me. My weight is checked and I have to keep myself hydrated, a lot. There are 4 intravenous bags over the course of the day which all help each other. My favourite one is the antihistamine which helps me to fall into a nice, comfortable and restful sleep during the process. I’m having the @scalpcooling Paxman Cold Cap treatment so that I can try and retain as much of my hair as possible. I have fine hair as it is but if I lose some then I know it will grow back again. I’m thinking of maybe buying a baby pink wig if I want to have a change of colour and style for a while 🩷 I’ve decided during the treatment process to keep a daily diary. I find it useful to make notes on how I feel, my appetite, water intake, mood, aches and pains if any, but it will also give me a reference to look back on as my treatment plan continues. I felt a little bit tired during the week, had a tiny amount of ache in my legs and slight headache one morning which cleared after I took some paracetamol. Luckily that’s all side effects so far. I’m given anti sickness medication to take for a couple of days and have the nausea treatment medication, should I need it. Today was my second cycle and it went as smoothly as last week’s, long may that continue 🙏🏼 I’m going to share some video and photos with you so that you can see what I’m going through, like so many others. I can’t thank you all enough for your kind words of support, encouragement and love. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I feel like I have a protective shield 🛡️ around me. My family, friends and entire team at @ReformUKWatford , have been so blown away by your response and support, it means an amazing amount to them all and to me. Huge love and hugs to my dear bestie @ColinMucklow and his wife Sarah who are going through Colin’s lung cancer recovery. Keep strong my angels and remember I love you very much.
