The delegation began with a tour of the Export Processing Zone (EPZ) in Kapseret, Uasin Gishu County, where discussions focused on the region's immense agribusiness potential. Particular emphasis was placed on value addition for avocados, with the PS noting the growing demand for avocado oil in Asian markets and encouraging young entrepreneurs to invest in processing and manufacturing once the EPZ becomes fully operational.
The team later visited Reale Hospital, one of the leading private healthcare facilities in the North Rift. Dr. Erick Rutto, Founder of Reale Hospital, showcased the hospital's recently acquired high-precision diagnostic imaging equipment, explaining how the advanced technology has significantly improved the speed and accuracy of diagnosis while bringing world-class healthcare services closer to residents of Eldoret and the wider region. This morning, the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry team, led by CEO KK Mutai, hosted a delegation from the Kenya Trade Network Agency @KenTrade_G2B led by Manager Trade Facilitation and Value Add services Billy Ngumi for strategic discussions on integrating the Chamber Management Information System (CMIS) with KenTrade’s Single Window Trade Facilitation Platform (TFP).
The proposed integration aims to enhance transparency and efficiency by enabling real-time visibility of submitted documents across both systems. This will strengthen collaboration between the Chamber and government agencies, including the Kenya Revenue Authority, in addressing the undervaluation of Certificates of Origin (COO) invoices.
Once implemented, the integration is expected to significantly improve compliance, streamline trade processes, and foster a more transparent and accountable trading environment, ultimately boosting confidence in Kenya’s export ecosystem.

The Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) participated at the Regional Single Window Conference in Nairobi, represented by the Senior Deputy Data Commissioner – Oscar Otieno, joining stakeholders to advance digital trade and regional integration.
As Africa grows, trade is becoming increasingly data-driven. Yet while goods are expected to move seamlessly across borders, data often does not due to evolving data protection laws, cross-border transfer requirements, and limited adequacy recognition.
From a data protection perspective, the priority should be to enable lawful cross-border data flows, promote harmonised frameworks, and embed privacy by design in digital trade systems.

Today, the newly appointed Board of the Kenya Trade Network Agency (KenTrade) paid me a courtesy call, marking our first engagement since their appointment. They briefed me on the agency’s ongoing and planned projects, with particular focus on the National Electronic Single Window System, a critical platform that brings together services from over 40 government agencies to streamline trade approvals.
I emphasized the need for efficiency, alignment with national priorities, and strong collaboration across institutions. I also stressed accountability, transparency, and effectiveness in service delivery, making it clear that there must be zero tolerance for corruption. I called on the Board to exercise diligent oversight so that KenTrade fully delivers on its mandate of facilitating trade and driving Kenya’s economic growth. Above all, I directed that KenTrade’s work must remain firmly focused on unlocking Kenya’s trade potential.
