28–29 October 2026 | WBCG Participates in the CILT SA Regional Conference
The Walvis Bay Corridor Group (WBCG) participated in the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport South Africa (CILT SA) Regional Conference, held on 28–29 October 2026 at Automechanika, Johannesburg, South Africa.
The conference brought together stakeholders from across the SADC transport, logistics and supply chain sectors to deliberate on key issues shaping regional connectivity, trade facilitation and the future of transport and logistics in Africa.
As part of the conference programme, Mrs. Cynthia Tusano Mukendwa-Haimbodi, WBCG's Manager: Logistics Hub and Strategic Resource Mobilisation, participated in a panel discussion, where she highlighted the strategic role of the Walvis Bay Corridors in facilitating regional trade, strengthening connectivity between Namibia and the SADC region, and providing efficient access to international markets. Her contribution also underscored the importance of regional collaboration, integrated logistics solutions and sustained investment in infrastructure and trade facilitation to enhance corridor efficiency and competitiveness.
Discussions focused on four key themes:
1. Transport Corridors: Connecting Africa’s future through integrated and efficient transport networks.
2. Harmonisation: Aligning strategies, regulations and systems to facilitate seamless cross-border trade.
3. Safety and Security: Protecting people, cargo and critical transport corridors.
4. Capacity Building: Developing the skills and competencies required for a future-ready logistics workforce.
Key takeaways from the conference included:
- Reliability over distance.
- Digitalisation as critical infrastructure.
- Collaboration as a strategic imperative.
- Bankable partnerships to unlock investment.
- People as drivers of competitiveness.
The discussions reinforced the importance of integrated corridor management, regional cooperation, digital transformation and sustained investment in developing competitive, efficient and resilient transport and logistics networks across the continent.
The WBCG delegation also included Mrs. Natalia Korupanda, Officer: Logistics Hub and Strategic Resource Mobilisation.
The WBCG remains committed to strengthening the competitiveness of the Walvis Bay Corridors and Namibian ports through stakeholder coordination, trade facilitation and strategic corridor development, while advancing Namibia's position as the preferred gateway to and from the SADC region.

21 October 2026 | The Walvis Bay Corridor Group (WBCG), represented by its Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Edward Shivute, participated in the panel discussion during Plenary 5, titled “The Lobito Corridor and Beyond — Infrastructure as the Backbone of Regional Value Chains”, at the Zambia Mining and Investment Insaka currently underway in Lusaka, Zambia. The Namibian Ports Authority (Namport) is also participating in the event, reinforcing joint efforts to promote Namibia’s ports and the Walvis Bay Corridors as strategic gateways for Zambia’s mining industry and regional trade.
The discussion provided a strategic opportunity to position the Port of Walvis Bay and the Walvis Bay–Ndola–Lubumbashi Development Corridor (WBNLDC) before Zambia’s mining companies, logistics operators, investors and government decision-makers who influence infrastructure investments, routing decisions and regional mining supply chains.
With the session focused on the emerging Lobito Corridor, WBCG’s participation ensured that Walvis Bay’s competitive value proposition formed part of the discussion. The theme of the event further provided an opportunity to demonstrate how the Port of Walvis Bay and the WBNLDC could continue to support Zambia’s mining industry through reliable, safe, efficient and predictable access to international markets, the efficient movement of mining inputs and diversified export routes.
The engagement also presented an opportunity to highlight WBCG’s more than 25 years of experience in corridor management, stakeholder coordination and trade facilitation. As an established Corridor Management Institution, WBCG offers valuable lessons for emerging corridors in governance, stakeholder collaboration and business development. To maintain the competitive advantage of the Walvis Bay Corridors, WBCG will continue working with all relevant stakeholders to improve corridor efficiency, address cross-border bottlenecks, strengthen cargo safety and security, and promote reliable services at competitive costs. These efforts aim to retain existing customers, attract new cargo and strengthen Namibia’s position as a preferred gateway for regional trade.
