Puma Energy and BHL Group have signed a five-year fuel transport agreement expected to move around three million litres of fuel per month between Namibia and Zambia.
The first deliveries are scheduled to begin in March, with fuel to be transported from Walvis Bay to Solwezi and other Zambian hubs. The return leg will carry copper exports back through Namibia.
The companies said the partnership is expected to enhance fuel supply security for industrial, mining and retail customers in Zambia, while improving operational efficiency along one of Southern Africa’s key trade routes.

Trans Kalahari Border bottlenecks causing hours-long delays
A recent Time Release Study (TRS) conducted by the Namibian government has revealed major inefficiencies at the Trans Kalahari Border Post, causing substantial delays and disrupting trade operations.
The study identified several critical issues, including frequent power failures affecting the ASYCUDA World system, inadequate financial bonds by clearing agents, and redundant administrative procedures.
These inefficiencies highlight deeper structural, procedural, and system-related problems that require immediate attention to improve clearance times and facilitate trade.
One of the major concerns raised is the impact of these inefficiencies on truck movement.
The study noted that poor road conditions exacerbate delays.

Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo says he will soon start rotating regional commanders, as some have become too comfortable at their regional stations and are no longer performing.
He says promotion means responsibility and seriousness.
Those who were recently promoted and are not performing will be demoted because it is no longer business as usual.
He says it is unacceptable for people to demand promotion, but their work remains the same.
It is vital to serve the people diligently with integrity and humanity at all times.
Shikongo also touched on the issue of unroadworthy police cars that are on public roads, while the same officers who are driving unroadworthy vehicles are issuing traffic fines to drivers.
