Our ability to discover, unlock the alphabet of DNA to know what it means, codes for without any community of science traditions imposed. proved once and for all: Language is objective at the bare bones level.
We dont need a group or traditions to understand language and meaning

I see the trolls are active today. Guess that is not unusual. My point about Hall was, for those who think, and know a little of his history (I, sadly, know way too much of it), my point was obvious. After crashing and burning his "ministry" (Pulpit and Pen) and the church he pastored, getting in trouble with the law, and admitting to drug addiction, Hall disappeared. Allegedly moved quietly to a farm, and eventually did an interview where he was, it seemed, going to stay and take care of his family and put things back together again, peacefully. Hence the "farmer" part. But JD could not stand being away from the limelight. Despite having burned everything that even looks like a bridge in his life, alienating EVERYONE who ever tried to be his friend, ever defended him (yes, I did defend him in the Caner situation---he had nothing to do with what happened), Hall just couldn't stay in a safe place. And those who don't know him have been busily encouraging him to get right back to the self-destructive ways that took him down so spectacularly just a few years ago. They do not, evidently, have his best interests at heart, and I can guarantee you one thing: once he comes after THEM, they will wish they had never heard his name. So anyway, the point of the comment was for those who know the truth of his past, and how sad the current situation really is.
Wait. Why assume White is envious? Have you reported JD's past testimony recently?!?!?!?!?, @EvangelicalDW ? Why do you always assume White must be wrong for saying JD is not the indicated individual to be talking Theology?

Orthdox/RC councils have errored.Below are Basil's original words. Then II Nicea's readings of him.
He is erroneously cited!
These supposed ecumenical councils are fallible, proving Sola Scriptura.
There, @JayDye's current religion of the month refuted.

Skip Rainbolt sent me this link. Regular listeners to the DL know we covered the Basil citation, its original context, etc., about six weeks ago or so, on this very topic.

Late-Modern Dog/Outside Are The Dogs.
@JayDyer is a cynic: filth references, mockery of the old guard's seriousness, and use of theatrical devices against Biblical Christianity.
Theater is pagan. And as a medium, it has been a vehicle for idolatry. No wonder his Orthodoxy.
A clear reason why Americans and America will never be Orthodox.
All of the Americas rebel against non-Jewish monarchism: from the tip of the Patagonia to the tip of Alaska, non-messianic, non-Davidic, non-Jewish monarchies will be forever opposed.
Orthodoxy is anti-American.
She is pointing out something Prot's saw 10 years ago:young white men joining historic,Calvinist Reformed churches, and promoting kinism/ethno-nationalism.
But left after being kicked out by and large for racism(@ket38111 is an example).
Now they are flooding Orthodoxy.
This is a brain on @JayDyer:
When you dont read Acts and that Apostles sent Elders to gentile churches to bring binding law upon them.
And @TexasRose1836 assumes you need a "gentile elder"(And by the way, it says ELDERS, plural, not just a single one.)for it to be binding.

For American ex-Evangelicals, Orthodoxy/RC It’s Pokémon for adults: a wholesale trade-in of the imageless Bible for pocket-sized, high-gloss icons—holographic idols believed to contain magical powers if summoned.

This goes for People like @paleochristcon as well. EO is just the latest manifestation of Mark Driscoll for the younger generation that dont know any better.
People like @paleochristcon believe in Sola Ecclesia first.
When asked to justify where one has to follow writings of fallible men before Scripture, he cites those very writings(Same for Roman Catholics).
Why? Because if he goes to Scripture first(Sola Scriptura)he's done.
When @JayDyer refused to have a formal debate with Dr. White, it was the sign to many that Dyer would be destroyed in the Q&A section on Orthodoxy.
He is only able to be relevant because of his comedic christianity shtick, to be real.

There is nothing new under the sun, as they say. And when it comes to online Roman Catholic apologetics, well, it's just the same thing, over and over again. Here is a classic example. Augustine never said what is cited here. Didn't happen. And that has been documented for centuries...but it doesn't stop Roman Catholics from repeating it. They don't read the controversial literature of the past. It is all so surface level.
A quarter century ago I debated Fr. Peter Stravinskas...Dr. Peter Stravinskas, editor of the Catholic Answer. Two Ph.D.s from Ivy League schools. We debated purgatory. Stravinskas gave the same quote. He, likewise, had no idea what the original context was.
Here is the real story. This is not a short read. Way too long for folks living in Ogden, evidently. But if you are serious about Christ's church, serious about the issue of authority, and serious about knowing what Augustine believed on these issues, you will take the time to work through it. And the next time someone does the "Rome has spoken, the case is closed" thing, you will know that THEY are not "deep in history," they are deep in Roman rhetoric only.

Mistaken view on RC/Prot #4:
Huff doesn't understand how Mt. 16:18 is all about the Petrine office and doesn't seem aware of the other two Gospel passages traditionally cited (Lk. 22/Jn. 21)
Huff also semi-favorably cites Augustine, even though Augustine affirmed the papacy--esp. as evidenced in Lk 22 and Jn 21--saying of the Pelagain heresy, "Roma locuta est: cause finita est"
Also, Huff seems to believe that the Pope's absence from Nicea means something against papal primacy; Huff doesn't seem to know that the Pope wasn't in person at any of the other first councils either, but was considered the authority
So when asked how do you know your traditions are true, this orthodox priest cites the traditions. And tries to make these traditions inpsired by the Holy Spirit by mere extension of association with the Apostles.
By that logic, Peter would never be wrong

Dear OrthoBros:
Since you insist I must turn my attention to debating "the true church" instead of wrecking Islam and evangelizing Muslims, and since I don't like to debate without first understanding a position, @OrthodoxEthos is joining me at 5pm ET to give everyone a case for Eastern Orthodoxy.

Harvey Friedman — the youngest professor in Stanford's history, founder of reverse mathematics, and the mathematician Kurt Gödel personally chose to sponsor his final paper — has spent 60 years on a single, audacious question: can ordinary, finite math be trusted? His theorems suggest otherwise, showing that even the most concrete and natural mathematical statements — involving nothing more exotic than rational numbers — cannot be proved or refuted within the gold standard of mathematical foundations, ZFC. The foundations of mathematics, Friedman argues, are not settled bedrock but something far more vertiginous: totally up in the air, and made more mysterious, not less, by his own work.
