Programs like this have proven to be extremely effective for the successful rehabilitation of offenders. These cats are from shelters and are usually the more skittish ones so the shelters send them because the inmates will help socialize the cats and get them comfortable around people so that at the end of the program they can be eligible for adoption. They are responsible for feeding, grooming, playing with them, giving them their medication, and cleaning after them. It teaches the inmates responsibility and the cats get more comfortable around people so they can be eligible for adoption. It’s a mutually beneficial program and I wish more institutions took part in it.
