A high-academic D3 Coach told us this:
“As soon as I get a recruit's name I go to Twitter”
Their goal?
Get a quick sense of the player's fit for their program, aka if they are "recruitable"
Best Case: The recruit has all key info listed in their profile, it is up to date & there's film to watch
Worst Case: Limited info, no highlight, or even worse - no profile at all
Coaches can't recruit what they can't find
Twitter (X) is free and something all recruits should create & maintain

I have clients paying LESS at D3/NAIA schools than others are at D1/D2.
If low cost is a priority, be open to ALL levels. The level doesn’t determine the financial package—and the sticker price isn’t always the final price.
Go through the process. Compare the real numbers. Then decide.

Recruits:
Turn on your X notifications.
When a college coach follows you:
Follow them back.
Send them a DM.
Include your metrics, video, and academic info.
Finish with a specific question that gives them a direction to take the conversation.
Don’t just say, “Thanks for the follow, Coach!”
Give them a reason to respond.
A follow is an open door.
Walk through it.

Alrighty so here it is D2 is now following the D1 model
Effective this upcoming 2026-27 academic year
• 5-year eligibility window
• Clock starts at full-time enrollment or academic year after 19th birthday (whichever earlier)
• Mirrors Division I
• Not retroactive for athletes who already exhausted eligibility - so if you played your 4 previously you don't get a 5th.
• Pretty much no redshirts except for pregnancy, military, and religious missions
Division II adopts age-based eligibility model, effective for the 2026-27 academic year.

I’ve seen a lot of HS junior and seniors Twitter (X) accounts clearly being run by parents, and the majority of them are doing damage to their kid’s recruitment.
It’s not your journey. Let them be kids and be themselves.

With the new eligibility criteria for college 🏀, EVERY player that’s not 19 years old graduating from HS should be going prep/taking a gap year so you’re not at a disadvantage entering college. Why waste eligibility AND be the youngest player on the team if you don’t have to be?

🫣 hey kids… let me give you a college coach POV with recruiting…
1. Read your message before you send it. Seriously😅… just read it one more time. (Example in the photo)
2. If you’re going to copy and paste from ChatGPT, at least edit it. The amount of texts I get that end with a random quotation mark (") is wild. 😭
We want to talk to YOU, not your chat.
3. If you get our number off social media, text us and then ask, “Wait… what school is this?” Or “Who is this that I’m talking to?” you’ve lost us coaches. If you’re interested enough to reach out, you should know who you’re contacting.
Coaches notice the little things. Professionalism, effort, and attention to detail matter just as much as your highlight tape. We all make mistakes… but you need to start being intentional with this process. Ask a trusted friend for help, not chat😅
