Contradiction alert - 90% of VC dollars target software, yet 60% of VC returns will come from deep tech hardware such as robotics. 🔬 🤖 So why aren't more VCs digging deep tech? Lux Capital, among others, has been telling us it's where the cool kids are! 😎 📈 If this is interesting to you - then you'll enjoy our latest @arv_fund newsletter - abemurray.substack.com/p/all… - give it a read! 📰 🤖 Are you the kind of person who earns bonus points? Another awesome Morgan pod I love talking about Isaiah and the team at Valar Good morning - we are going to win 🦾
Valar Atomics 30 days of Hard Tech: Day 8 ☢️ Abe Murray (GP at AlleyCorp): “Isaiah is so phenomenal at telling a story, pulling a cult of belief behind him around what he's trying to do with nuclear power” “Isaiah said from day one, ‘You have to touch metal. You have to build. You can't theorize your way to a new nuclear reactor. You have to actually do it.’” “He understood what the world needs is cheap energy. It doesn't need a theoretically optimal reactor. It needs a buildable, scalable reactor, and that's what he's off doing.” “And at the end of the day, Kevin Ryan (founder of AlleyCorp) asked me, ‘Is this one of the most incredible humans you've met?’ And the answer is yes, of course, and we backed him”

Digging out after 10 days in China Will write more / share more later Top of mind: 1 - energy is everything 2 - manufacturing is not won through cheaper humans but through excellence at manufacturing processes and built up industrial clusters around them 3 - robotics is not lost yet / needs real data at scale / this game is still open 4 - robotics hardware will be like ai models - all the money will be made in the applications and unique data sets on top of mostly commodity hardware assemblies

Isaiah / Valar are on a role with these recent hires Just an insane level of talent landing in the company Building something generational / civilizational
Excited to welcome Brian Cummings to Valar Atomics as VP of Nuclear Operations! Brian has spent 20+ years both regulating and running nuclear facilities across the Navy, NRC, DOE, and new advanced nuclear companies. At INL, Brian ran the nuclear safety oversight program and led nuclear operations for the TREAT reactor facility. At Kairos, he helped to develop the Hermes PSAR and led the execution of their TRISO plant. Brian has chosen to take the next step in advanced nuclear and join us on our mission to make energy cheaper and more abundant in the universe than ever before. Grateful to have him on the team!

Another PO signed today. That’s $200k revenue in 8 weeks. Our electronics are now in drones, interceptors, and robots. Maybe most proud of all is we had our first repeat customer. Hardware is hard, but building a good product and having happy customers makes it all worth it.

This is a team to watch Composite parts for western drones, made in America, more than competitive with China - what's not to like 🦾 Incredible team (and if you've met them you know this!) did this first for F1 cars, now taking best in class materials and manufacturing to scale Going to be a wild ride 📈

Kevin Ryan / @tferriss on deep tech: → 10-year trends - hot now means too late → 2nd order effects - assume trend, then what? → nuclear wasn't hot - no policy path, pre-capex build out ⇒ we co-lead Valar's seed → robots will scale - 100-10,000x / single-task / factories first → e-com is solved - nuclear, cancer, energy aren't. "There is no next internet" 😂 Same for compute. Let's build 🦾

I was invited to recreate the iconic 1995 "Old Glory Insurance" skit from @nbcsnl. Correction: I invited myself. Because a 1995 robot insurance commercial desperately needed a 2026 update. Back then, the joke was that robots were coming for us and nobody would insure against it. Thirty years later, @koop_ai has helped pioneer the robot insurance category, risk-controlling and insuring roughly a quarter of the U.S. robotics market. That gave us a front-row seat to something nobody had quantified before: what actually makes a robot risky, and what makes it trustworthy? Today we're putting the data behind that question out into the world. IN BOTS WE TRUST 2026 is the culmination of five years of underwriting robots in the real world, and our attempt to give the robotics industry a shared, quantifiable way to build and prove trust. 392 companies. Five years of quotes, policies and claims. Hundreds of thousands of data points. One question: can we trust the robots? The answer might surprise you. P.S. More importantly, how did we do with the skit?
