Honoured to be the first recipient of the Asia Regional Leadership Award from @NPAworldwide .
Nothing compares to recognition that comes from one’s peers.

Planning a return to India?
Try two lists before a list of employers.
What must work for your family?
What must work for your career?
Then look for the overlap. Give the city as much thought as the company.

It works.
Closing Bell: Market snaps 4-day fall; Nifty above 22,750, Sensex up 483 pts
#Amex is cutting about 5% of its workforce. Its CFO told @CNBC the aim is to "reduce layers and increase spans of control" before automating with AI.
For senior people: the layer that goes first is usually the one that reviews, not the one that decides.
Which one are you in?

When I launched Groupon in India in 2011, everyone in the US team believed it would be a crazy success.
India and Indians love discounts.
They are going to love Groupon.
Even I thought so.
We got the best deals from hotels, restaurants, spas, salons.
Incredible 30-50% off on the MRP.
Ready to launch the website.
We launched.
People came.
In numbers.
They saw.
And left.
Nothing moved!
I remember being confused. Perplexed at what was happening. Because this wasn't part of the plan.
I thought the discount would people go crazy.
And that's when I learnt my big lesson about the Indian consumer.
We are a trust-deficient culture.
We are told from our first days - daal mein kuch kaala hai (something is fishy!)
We are told that if someone is being extra nice to you, be on your guard.
Consumers felt the same way when they came to Groupon.
Instead of feeling "oh wow - my favorite restaurant at a 30% off", they felt "hmmm - why is this restaurant that doesn't need to give any discount ever suddenly giving a 30% discount. What's the catch?"
And that catch was what stopped them.
And that was the big lesson in consumer psychology - especially in India
If the purchase experience is uncertain, it doesn't matter how economical you are!
When a company announces a new GCC, my first question is:
What decisions will the India team own?
Headcount tells you the size of the centre. Decision rights tell you something about the careers inside it.
Before writing a job description, answer this:
What must this person achieve in the first year?
If the hiring panel gives three different answers, the first meeting you need is with the panel.
For Indians on H-1B weighing options: a policy headline isn't a career plan
Check your status timelines first. Then ask any India offer for grade parity, a fixed joining date, relocation support and no clawback if your move date slips.
🇺🇸Rubio insists new visa restrictions hitting Indian workers and students are global, not targeted.
“It happens to impact Indians that want to come to the United States and work, and that our businesses are trying to bring in.”
Last year Trump ordered a $100,000 H-1B visa fee that hit many skilled workers from India.

For senior returnees the ask is usually specific: a role with real decision rights, grade parity with global peers, and a joining date that fits visa and school calendars.
A clear path for the spouse's career closes more moves than salary does.
Excellent interaction with Indian Science and Technology researchers and students in Berlin.
Heard their views on strengthening the support ecosystem for Indian talent abroad and urged them to continue to contribute in their way towards the Viksit Bharat journey.
Assured them of full support to ensure that their efforts in the field of innovation and startups get a platform at important trade fairs and exhibitions and that the India story is strongly showcased.
Coming back to India with an offer letter in hand?
Read it again before you land:
Is the joining date fixed?
Is relocation reimbursed or advanced?
Is there a clawback if you leave within a year?
Better to ask now than at induction.
Naukri's September JobSpeak: hiring for 13-16 years' experience up 7%, 4-7 years down 2%. GCC hiring up 4%, Hyderabad up 23%.
Experience is in demand where it comes with ownership.
What did your last interview test: skills or judgement?

Handed a separation letter?
Before you sign, check:
How the payout is labelled
Which financial year it lands in
What happens to unvested ESOPs and bonus
Whether you can join a new employer during notice
The label can matter as much as the amount.
Layoffs are becoming common.
The least the government can do is not tax severance pay, benefits, and full and final settlement.
Individual taxpayers contribute more than corporates in the country.
This is all the more significant given that only about 2% of the population pays income tax.
Taxpayers don’t get proportional benefits from the government.
Not taxing severance pay would put more money in the hands of affected employees.
This is the least the government can do for taxpayers.
An unverified Reddit post from a Hyderabad GCC: about 60 people let go after AI took over the workflow.
Mid-level all placed. Seniors 10+ mostly not.
If you're 15+ years in, what do you decide that AI can't?

Planning your return to India?
Before the week begins, compare the employer's timeline with your family's commitments.
Which dates are confirmed?
Which can move?
Which require money now?
Take the gaps into your next conversation with the employer.
Trust @HungLee to curate the weekly content for #talentacquisition pros.
This weeks #RecruitingBrainfood had an interesting 30 min video, that chronicles Indias journey in thr adoption of IT services.
To me, who has been part of the ride since liberalisation (1992), it was wonderful being taken back to the precursors of the stories that were the foundation
#mustwatch.
Flashback for me? TISCO, IBM, Tata Borroughs,TCS (FC Kohli), Patni, Telecom, SEEPZ, ITP regulations( 80s), Unix, Infosys,Texas Instrumentation. were milsetones..that them paved the way for bodyshopping. Before Y2K, offshoring, outsourcing, ITES, support centres..now fast forward to GCCs.
The narrative ends with ref to the stock market prices. and the emergence of AI..
A deja vu feeling of 2003/04 elections in the USA about migration of jobs

A Sunday question for anyone weighing a career move:
What are you hoping the next job will change?
The work?
The manager?
The money?
The location?
Time with family?
Which of those have you actually tested in the interviews?

Today, the calendar makes a right triangle, for the last time this century.
This Saturday is October 24, 2026.
Write it as 10/24/26 or 24/10/26, and the same beautiful relationship appears:
10² + 24² = 26²
100 + 576 = 676
But here’s what makes today special.
There are infinitely many Pythagorean triples. Only a handful fit our calendar.
Using the rule
month² + day² = (last two digits of the year)²,
the month cannot exceed 12, and the day cannot exceed 31. Those small limits leave exactly 12 qualifying dates in this century.
Today is the last.
The next will be March 4, 2105:
3² + 4² = 5²
That is a wait of more than 78 years.
An infinite family of triangles. Just twelve appearances on a century’s calendar.
Happy Pythagorean Triple Day.

My takeaway?
If an egg is broken by an outside force, life ends. If broken by an inside force, life begins.
Great things always begin from within.
