ZLX, a Glasgow tax firm, told a client they could claim £30,000 in R&D tax relief. For installing a fridge. The client pulled out, & ZLX sued them. The court called the claim "comical". But when tax advisers posted that on LinkedIn, ZLX threatened to sue them. The full story:

My government is trying to do two incompatible things simultaneously. On the one hand, it’s trying to fix our broken welfare system while saving money. This is not possible, and I told the minister in parliament today that her £5billion cut to disability support would increase hardship in my constituency and is contrary to the values of my party. Ultimately, this Labour government is facing hard limits in doing what is right for our class while appeasing the interests of big business and the wealthy. They are incompatible aims and my party must choose in whose interests we are governing.

Thangam Debbonaire sometime in the past: "This has been rewarding cronies, and that's just not on, and Keir Starmer would never do that, he would never exploit the honours system to do what Boris Johnson has done"

I always believed under a Labour Govt this kind of gross human rights violation would never happen - a 77 year old woman climate protester recalled to prison (after released) because her wrists too small to fit electronic tagging bracelet. Yet here we are with PM Keir Starmer.

With huge sadness I’m resigning as VP of the RSPCA, a role I’ve held with pride for over 15 years. But their Assured Schemes risk misleading the public & legitimising cruelty. I tried with @ChrisGPackham to persuade the leadership to act but sadly failed thetimes.com/article/100c3f4…

Back in June, then Labour MP for Bristol Thangam Debbonaire was "enraged" when Green activists suggested she'd be put in the Lords if she lost. Six months later - that is, today - Thangam Debbonaire has been put in the Lords. As Green activists said would happen!

I’ve got no problem with this new government not paying the WASPI women I DO have a problem with a prime minister who LEVERAGED the story for POLITICAL GAIN and threw these women under the bus the moment he gained power

My jaw hit the floor when I heard about Gaie Delap's case. A 77-year old peaceful climate protester threatened with being returned to jail... because they can't find a tag small enough for her wrists. I have written to prisons minister Lord Timpson. theguardian.com/environment/…

Private equity is a horror story for the NHS – one fifth of budget goes to it. Privatised services treat 10% of patients, 3% in 2011. 59,000 private contracts in the NHS. 30%-40% of money vanishes in profits, longer queues persist. End privatisation. thecanary.co/uk/analysis/202…

This is such a retrograde step. Supporting farmers to protect the environment is vital if we are to restore nature & reverse the decline in wildlife. Many want to do this - but need the financial support Cutting it off lets down those farmers who've risen to the challenge & puts nature recovery at risk. Govt should think again

A really thorough exploration of the facts about the changes to Inheritance Tax for farms, by @BenChu_. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c789… This confirms what @guyshrubsole, @TaxJusticeUK, @CenTaxUK & I have been saying these last 3 weeks. Only 500 estates will be affected per year.
