living in the cybersecurity matrix at Outtake

Joined September 2020
We’ve spent the last 3 years going to war with nation-state attackers, bot farms & malicious agentic swarms. Why? Outtake’s mission is to build a High-Trust Internet. We believe trusted agent & human collaboration will unlock the next chapter of civilizational growth. Read about why we build.

This is what I want to see. Swarms used for defense. (because swarms will be used for offense too)

Worth noting Quest hasn't said yet how many people were affected or what data was taken. Either way, the follow-on risk tends to outlast the headline. A caller who can mention a real test at a real lab is far more convincing than a generic "your account is locked" text, so fake billing notices or lookalike results portals while people wait for breach letters wouldn't be a surprise.
Quest Diagnostics has been hacked. Patient data was exposed. They serve roughly half of U.S. hospitals and physicians. Investigation ongoing.

1/ pretty bad out there. We have to fix the last 50 years of software and internet sloppiness. Faster than adversaries can find the holes, and faster than we ship new ones (with agents!). CVEs went from ~4k a month to ~15k since April. That is not business as usual.

On the upside: The fact that old bugs are being discovered is a strong indicator for optimism: Old bugs are deep bugs that survived many years of code review. Finding a bunch of old bugs is the clearest indicator that technological progress in bug detecdtion is real.

This is Outtake mission doctrine: Software Battle versus Trust War Software Exploits will create an extremely turbulent period for ~2 years and then asymptotically approach 0 Attackers will shift strategies from "hack" to "trick" Trust Exploits will be the attack. outtake.ai/our-mission
Replying to @RothRottweiler
vulnzero. the scaling laws will have driven cyber mythos-class capabilities into small, cheap models and all software dev everywhere will be using models for fractions of pennies on the dollar to stop shipping security bugs permanently.

as bad as things have gotten in the past 4 days, they are going to get a lot worse before they get better. security leaders, never let a crisis go to waste: please go to your boards and ask for help right now. not for ai, for the basics. (we need to hold on for ~18 months.)
The vulnerability tsunami is coming in just a few months and there won’t be enough time to patch critical infrastructure. Network isolation described below (air-gaps and data diodes!) needed now!

It's almost like CAPTCHAs & every form of identifying humans online being broken was going to be a real problem Internet integrity - who would have thought? Certainly this crew.
SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios. The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios. Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said. Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior. Read my latest for Axios here: axios.com/2026/10/22/ai-agen…

This is how we’re all going to be securing our passwords in another week at this rate.

This is why Outtake's mission is to build a High-Trust Internet Civilization coordinates & trusts based on the Internet We took this for granted -- until the AI era. Outtake solves this. outtake.ai/our-mission
This is serious. I just saw with my very own eyes that even non-technical people can exploit CVEs like PHP2Shell using certain AI models and I am actually frightened. Once you figure it out, it is downright trivial to do. The digital infrastructure of the world is at risk.

introducing world id for finance the proof of human stack to protect the global financial system starting with Bain Capital, OpenExchange, Outtake, and VanEck
In 2024, an employee at engineering firm Arup transferred $25.6 million after joining a video call where every other participant was a deepfake. Since then, AI has advanced significantly and is making impersonation increasingly convincing, causing challenges for financial institutions in particular. As autonomous agents begin handling more financial activity on behalf of people, establishing an added layer of trust and security behind a transaction or sensitive conversation is becoming an urgent need. Introducing @world_id for banking and finance, a suite of technologies that helps institutions establish trust through privacy-preserving cryptographic Proofs. World ID for Zoom lets meeting participants confirm they are the same Orb-verified human connected to their account, while World ID for agents allows AI agents to carry Proofs delegated by people. Bain Capital, OpenExchange, Outtake, Pantera Capital, and VanEck Funds are initial design partners, bringing World ID into some of finance's most consequential interactions. fortune.com/2026/10/18/zoom-…

In a world of trillions of agents online, identifying the humans is more important than ever - proud to be building with @worldnetwork & @alexblania on this one

Exactly -- the next few years are a Software Battle of patching legacy code & bringing on 24/7 red-team AI models to test your systems
Every organization in the world needs access to a strong frontier cyber model—ASAP. You should be sweeping your whole system as much as possible. This is the new world.

they've been non stop trying to attack our systems for the past 48 hours a side effect is everything is getting hardened but damn we basically need agents going 24/7 because that's what they have

The alpha of starting a company in NYC is being able to ignore 90% of the SF startup circus Meanwhile if you’re good, the VCs fly to you 🤷‍♂️
Every person that moves to SF goes to a bunch of tech events in the first two weeks and realizes it's a complete waste of time.
