In all honesty I thought there would be no further lost episodes found in our lifetimes. Still processing this. 2 episodes as well. The fact the episodes are from Hartnell’s greatest story is even more unbelievable. Nicholas Courtney’s first appearance found. Katarina lives again
Instantly hooked by The War Between the Land and Sea.
It was this tense, beautifully shot scene that was an early sign we’d be in for something special. Hooks you instantly. Incredible tension. Simply fantastic
Perhaps a scenario most fans would be content with is if RTD uses this special to wrap up his last (interesting) dangling plot threads before passing the torch to a new head writer and staying on -with Bad Wolf still involved- as a producer of the next Doctor’s era

Christmas 2026 has to be Piper, Tennant and Daleks, surely? Crowd please as much as possible. Play the hits as much as possible. Make it the centrepiece odd Christmas Day on BBC One. Then end it with a regeneration, a big beautiful teaser trailer and a return date.
Doctor Who community…
It’s simply so good to be talking about Doctor Who again.

It felt different thinking an experimental spin-off might be the last Doctor Who media we’d see for a generation.
The main show is now officially coming back…
So let’s back this spin-off with optimism and hope. The Whoniverse… returning full of life to a screen near you soon
The Doctor lives!
Couldn’t be happier to seemingly exit the world of powerful ‘streaming partners’ and the like. The BBC simply confirms the show will return.
We’re back.

You have to hope Billie Piper actually is the next Doctor. The possibility of a rug pull where she’s ’the bad Wolf entity’ incarnate or ‘Rose has somehow broken through’ would utterly alienate a potential new audience. I say this as the biggest Rose Tyler fan…
At a certain time Who was the coolest thing on TV
These were the hottest DVDs in Britain.
BUT… you don’t need to bring back the main stars to recapture this
Tone, characters you care about, depth, unpretentiousness, grit, punchy dialogue, self-contained stories, good arcs…
I feel she may have been brought back as last ditch nostalgic stunt. But the production need gumption just to forget all that and let her lead something totally new. It’s possible.
Let Billie lead a new era shorn of the past with top stories, it’ll be the coolest thing again
Yep. I guess the exciting thing about current Doctor Who (following a disappointing season finale), is that we most likely now have RTD in specials mode. Pretty much his party piece. Hoping for positive news about the show imminently (most likely continuing via Bad Wolf)
The notion that the the Doctor had not yet had kids, first floated in Legend of Ruby Sunday/Empire of Death… deeply pissed me off. Not because it shortchanges Russell’s own ‘I was a Dad once’ line from Fear Her but because it arrogantly ruins Hartnell’s relationship with Susan
The Doctor and all Time Lords being ‘sterile’ again is a bit of a downer. It’s odd to tap into that lore when the novel that really explores all of that sees the Time Lords being sterile reversed at the end of the story. Reality War brought it back and reworked it so confusingly
Lungbarrow is the main novel that explores the Time Lords having looms because they were cursed by the Pythia (a forerunner to the Sisterhood of Karn). But by the end of the story the curse is lifted and Leela falls pregnant with Andred’s child
