Everyone is different. And everyone is with those who are different like them. Mālik ibn Dīnār raḥimahullāh said: “People are like different species of birds: pigeons associate with pigeons, crows with crows, ducks with ducks, and every person gravitates towards those who resemble him.” From the Ibānah of Ibn Baṭṭah, 2/280

SubhanAllah this is too deep and I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. Ibn ‘Umar رضي الله عنهما used to say “When evening comes do not expect the morning. When morning comes do not expect the evening.” Bukhari We plan years ahead yet keep putting repentance and making things right off until tomorrow. What unsettles me is how easily we treat another day as something we already own. May Allah forgive us and grant us a good ending.

The Deen is Spread Through Gentleness, Wisdom & Understanding Not Harshness, Ignorance and Personal Desires. ‘Allāmah ibn Bāz raḥimahullāh said: “Indeed, wisdom, a good manner of approach and gentleness are among the most important matters at all times, and particularly so in these times, due to the prevalence of ignorance and the dominance of desires over most people. Through harshness, people will be repelled by you and distance themselves from you, and none will accept the truth except those whom Allah has shown mercy.” Majmūʿ al Fatāwā, 7/266

Regarding the horrific murder of our Brother Abdallahi (Farid) Ismail in Small Heath, Birmingham. Please exercise some use of tact and mindfulness and do not share the video around out of respect for his family. The brother had 6 kids with 1 on the way and it would not be nice for them to come across this. Nor is there any valid reason to be spreading it. May Allah have mercy on him, he was a lovely brother, a consistent companion of the Masajid. May Allah forgive him, have mercy on him, make it easy for his family and reunite them all in Jannah.

The killing in Small Heath is horrific, Subhanallah. That video should not be circulating, and out of respect for him and his family, I hope people stop sharing it. May Allah have mercy on his soul and grant him the highest place in Jannatul Firdaus. Ameen.

Signs you shouldn’t post something: 1) If you have hide behind an organisation or building name to say something because you’re too embarrassed or frightened of the consequences to say it yourself. 2) If you have to sandwich your baseless opinions between unrelated quotes to try and legitimise what you’re trying to say.

Help them Pay the Mahr If They Can’t Afford It Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Sālih Al ‘Uthaymīn: “It is permissible for one to donate their Zakatul-Maal to one who is trying to get married but does not have the means to do so. He may use that money to pay for the Mahr and for ease in approaching that marriage…” Fatawa Fi Zakat Was Sawm, Pg. 304

Imām Ibn Rajab on Surah Fātihah This sūrah encompasses all the objectives of the revealed Books:
Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, sent the Messengers and revealed the Books only to call creation to know Him, single Him out in worship, worship Him, love Him, draw close to Him and turn to Him in repentance. This is the purpose of the Messengership, its very essence and the central axis around which it revolves. Everything beyond this consists of things that complete, perfect and supplement it. Everyone is therefore in need of knowing these matters through knowledge and implementing them through action. There can be no happiness, success or salvation for the servant without these two objectives.
Sūrah al Fātiḥah encompasses these objectives because it introduces the Lord, Glorified is He, through three Names to which all the other Names ultimately return: Allah, al Rabb and al Raḥmān. The sūrah is built upon Allah’s (uluhiyyah) sole right of worship, His Lordship and His Mercy. The statement, “You alone we worship” is founded upon uluhiyyah; “and You alone we ask for help” is founded upon lordship; and the request for guidance to His Straight Path is founded upon mercy. Praise encompasses all three, for He, Exalted is He, is praised for His divinity, lordship and mercy.
Extolling and glorifying Allah are two aspects of the perfection of His praise. The sūrah also encompasses the Oneness of Allah in His uluhiyyah and lordship through His statement:
“You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help.”
Since everyone is in need of seeking guidance to the Straight Path, both in knowledge and understanding and then through action and adherence, the servant must ask for this guidance and seek it from the One in Whose Hand it lies.
This supplication is the greatest thing of which the servant stands in need and to which he is compelled at every blink of an eye. This is because people fall into three categories:
 1. Those who knew the truth but turned away from it: those who incurred anger.
 2. Those who were ignorant of the truth: those who went astray.
 3. Those who knew the truth and acted upon it: those upon whom Allah bestowed His favour.
Since the servant possesses no independent ability to bring benefit to himself or ward off harm, he needs to ask the One who possesses the power and ability to grant it to guide him to the path of those upon whom favour has been bestowed, and to save him from the path of those who incurred anger and those who went astray.
The sūrah also encompasses the affirmation of Prophethood and the Resurrection. As for the Resurrection, this is established through the mention of the Day of Recompense, the day on which people are recompensed for their deeds. As for Prophethood, it is established through the division of creation into three categories, for people were divided into these categories according to their relationship with the Prophethood, their knowledge of it and their following of it. Tafseer of Ibn Rajab

We plan our work, our appointments and our journeys. How often do we plan the good we want to do? A reminder to myself as this Monday begins. The Prophet ﷺ said, narrating from his Lord: “Whoever intends a good deed but does not do it, Allah records it for him as a complete good deed.” Bukhari Subhanallah. A sincere intention to do good matters before anyone sees an action. And the hadith continues: when we carry it out, the reward is multiplied. That makes me think more carefully about what I’m actually intending today. Who can I help? Which family member should I check on? What time have I set aside for the Quran? Is there an apology I’ve been putting off? We don’t have to plan something extraordinary. We can choose a good deed, intend it sincerely for Allah, and make room for it in our day. I want a good life, but I need to pay attention to the days that make it. Start by intending good today. Follow it with action. Keep renewing that intention through the week, the month and the year. And when a day goes badly, begin again. There is still good to do. May Allah make our intentions sincere, help us act upon them, and bless us with lives filled with deeds that please Him. Ameen.

Don’t Describe the One you Love to Others Ibn al Qayyim mentions that some people would refrain from describing their beloved ones or mentioning their attractive qualities, fearing that by doing so, they might cause someone else to fall in love with them. ʿAlī ibn ʿĪsā al Rāfiqī said: “I shall never describe my beloved, exposing them to the desires of other men. Why should I awaken another person's heart with longing, while a curtain still stands between me and union with my beloved?” Ibn al Qayyim goes on to then warn the reader that some people foolishly describe their wives and their beauty to others, and that this can become a cause of separation and another person's attachment to them. Ibn al Qayyim, Rawḍat al Muḥibbīn, chapter 22, p. 313 in the cited Dār al Kutub al ʿIlmiyyah edition.

The King’s Daughter Attempted to Seduce Him & So He Threw Himself Off the Building Ibn al Qayyim relays from one of the Isra’īliyyāt: It is related that there was a young man among the Children of Israel who was more handsome than any other among them. He earned his living by selling baskets. One day, while he was walking around with his baskets, a woman came out of the house of one of the kings of the Children of Israel. When she saw him, she hurried back inside and said to the king's daughter, “I have seen a young man at the door selling baskets. I have never seen anyone more handsome.” The king's daughter said, “Bring him in.” The woman went out and told him to enter. He did so, and she shut the door behind him. She then told him to enter another room, and when he did, she shut the door behind him. The king's daughter then appeared before him with her face and neck uncovered. He said, “Cover yourself, may Allah preserve you.” She replied, “We did not bring you here for that reason. We brought you here for this,” and she attempted to seduce him. He admonished her, telling her to fear Allah. She replied, “If you do not comply with what I want, I shall tell the king that you entered here intending to assault me.” He asked her to prepare water for ablution. She said, “Are you making excuses to escape me?” Then she instructed a servant to bring water to the top of the palace, where he would be unable to flee from her. When he reached the top of the palace, he said, “O Allah, I have been invited to disobey You, but I choose to throw myself from this palace rather than commit the sin.” He then said, “In the name of Allah,” and threw himself from the top. Allah sent an angel who caught him by his arms, and he landed standing on his feet. When he reached the ground, he said, “O Allah, if You wish, provide me with provision that will make me independent of selling these baskets.” Allah sent him a swarm of golden locusts, from which he gathered until he had filled his garment. When his garment was full, he said, “O Allah, if this is provision You have granted me in this world, then bless it for me. But if it diminishes what I have with You in the Hereafter, then I have no need of it.” A voice called out to him, “What We have given you is only one twenty fifth of what you would receive for your patience in throwing yourself down.” He replied, “O Allah, then I have no need of anything that diminishes what I have with You in the Hereafter.” The golden locusts then returned. Ibn al Qayyim, Rawḍat al Muḥibbīn, chapter 23.

A Story of Sihrul Mahabbah (Magic of Love)
She Loved Him So Much She Cast a Spell on Him and He Died Ibn al Qayyim raḥimahullāh said: “A young man who was righteous and dutiful towards his father passed away. The cause of his death was that a woman had fallen in love with him, so she sent him a message expressing her love for him and asking him to visit her. She was married, and she persisted in her requests. He confided the matter to a friend of his. His friend said to him, ‘If you were to send one of your female relatives to her to admonish and reprimand her, I would hope that she would desist from pursuing you.’ He refrained from visiting her. She then sent him a message saying, ‘Either you visit me, or I will visit you.’ He refused. When she despaired of him, she went to a woman who practised sorcery and promised her a substantial reward if she could arouse his passion for her. The sorceress carried out what she had been asked to do. One night, while the young man was sitting with his father, the woman suddenly came to his mind, and an intense urge arose within him, unlike anything he had ever experienced before. He became confused and started to lose his restraint a little. He immediately stood up, prayed and sought refuge with Allah, but the affliction continued to intensify. He said, ‘Father, help me! Restrain me with shackles!’ His father said, ‘My son, what is the matter?’ He told him the whole story. His father got up, shackled him and placed him in a room. The young man began thrashing about and bellowing like a bull. Then he became still, and there he was, dead, with blood flowing from his nostrils.” Ibn al Qayyim, Rawḍat al Muḥibbīn, Chapter 28, Page 461
