Energy security is national security. The United States shares Ukraine’s goal to produce more energy, operate more efficiently, and attract private capital and technical capabilities from U.S. industries.
On October 26, U.S. Department of State and Naftogaz signed a Memorandum of Understanding to expand cooperation, opening new opportunities for U.S. companies in Ukraine’s oil and gas sector.

Today, the European Union took a major step forward.
All Member States agreed to open the first accession negotiations cluster with Ukraine and Moldova.
At the first Intergovernmental Conference on Monday, we will open the cluster on fundamentals; the backbone of the accession process.
It covers the core values and principles on which the EU is built, from the rule of law to strong democratic institutions.
This is a recognition of the determination, courage and hard work shown by both countries in advancing reforms, even in the face of immense challenges.
And a signal that the EU’s offer of peace, stability and opportunity is unmatchable.
Enlargement is a strategic choice.
By bringing our nations closer together, we strengthen peace, security and prosperity across our continent.
In a world marked by growing uncertainty, a larger European Union is in our common interest.

Ukraine is considering the possibility of activating the Early Warning Mechanism provided for in the Association Agreement.

Ukraine rejects and condemns the ultimatums and blackmail by the governments of Hungary and the Slovak Republic regarding energy supplies between our countries 🇺🇦🇭🇺🇸🇰
Such actions, in the context of massive and targeted Russian strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure and Moscow's attempts to deprive Ukrainians of electricity, heating, and gas during extreme cold weather, are provocative, irresponsible, and threaten the energy security of the entire region. In doing so, the governments of Hungary and Slovakia are not only playing into the hands of the aggressor, but also harming their own energy companies that supply energy on a commercial basis.
Ukraine is in constant contact with representatives of the European Commission regarding the damage to Ukrainian energy infrastructure caused by daily Russian strikes. We have also provided information about the consequences of these Russian attacks on the Druzhba oil pipeline infrastructure to the governments of Hungary and Slovakia. Security and stabilization repair work continues amid daily threats of new missile attacks. Ukraine has also proposed alternative ways to resolve the issue of supplying non-Russian oil to these countries.
🇪🇺 Ukraine has always been, is, and will remain a reliable energy partner of the EU and a transit country for energy resources. At the same time, in light of the unfounded and irresponsible threats coming from Budapest and Bratislava in recent days, Ukraine is considering the possibility of activating the Early Warning Mechanism provided for in the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union.
We call on the governments of Hungary and the Slovak Republic to engage in constructive cooperation and behave responsibly.
Ultimatums should be sent to the Kremlin, and certainly not to Kyiv.

Held a meeting with U.S. Secretary of Energy @SecretaryWright.
We discussed the prospects for strengthening the energy partnership between our countries and agreed to begin work on a future Energy Deal. In particular, we plan to cooperate in the following areas:
📌 Supply of American LNG. The most effective instrument for this is the Vertical Gas Corridor - an existing route with potential for further capacity expansion.
📌 Utilization of Ukraine’s gas transmission system and underground gas storage facilities. A strategic partnership in this area could create additional opportunities for U.S. LNG supplies to the region, especially in the context of the expected phased reduction of Russian gas imports.
📌 Nuclear energy. Cooperation with the United States in the nuclear sector is of strategic importance for Ukraine, particularly in the deployment of advanced American technologies. Ukraine is interested in innovative solutions from the U.S. nuclear industry.

Обговорили перспективи енергетичного партнерства між нашими країнами. Домовились працювати над майбутньою Energy Deal. Зокрема плануємо співпрацю за наступними напрямками:
📌 Постачання американського скрапленого природного газу. Найбільш ефективним інструментом для цього є Вертикальний газовий коридор — вже наявний маршрут, пропускна спроможність якого може бути додатково розширена.
📌 використання української газотранспортної системи та підземних сховищ газу. Стратегічне партнерство в цій сфері може забезпечити додаткові можливості для США у постачанні СПГ до регіону, особливо з огляду на очікувану поетапну відмову від російського газу.
📌 Ядерна енергетика. Співпраця зі США у ядерному секторі має для України стратегічне значення, особливо у сфері впровадження передових американських технологій. Україна зацікавлена у рішеннях американського ядерного сектору.

We know that the Hungarian side is preparing to complain again about problems with Russian oil transit through the Druzhba pipeline.
We can only advise them to approach their “friends” in Moscow with these photos. This is the Druzhba pipeline infrastructure burning after the latest targeted Russian strike on January 27th, which stopped the oil transit.
By the way, Hungary made no protest to Russia about it. They could not even pronounce the word “Russia”. Double standards at their best.
The truth is that Moscow stopped being a reliable supplier the moment it launched its aggression against Ukraine. And this aggression is the cause of all problems.
Regrettably, years of this reality have not been enough for the Orban government to realize this and diversify supplies. We propose them to open their eyes.
