“Well you’re fucking ripped…”

Looking down the rabbit hole

Walking into the gym tonight, a group of women were outside in rugby kit handing out fliers. “You look fucking ripped, wanna play rugby “Ha thanks but too old “Wadya mean, what are you 40?” Absolutely made up, two compliments in one minute! That never happens ;)

The comments on this are golden
Tesco supermarket this afternoon. Got chatting to lovely cashier, im guessing in her 60s. Swiftly conversation moved to politics, the total incompetents running this destroyed bum hole of a country. Cupping her hand over her mouth and leaning towards me she said, " there is only one man capable of fixing this, Rupert Lowe." I fully concurred

I was in the queue behind you Emma. Both I and my fellow customers were so moved by this we couldn't help but burst into a rendition of the National Anthem! Tears of pride are welling up just thinking about this.

But I have worked in disaster response for my entire life and experienced 72 hour schemes all around the world. We are one of last high GDP countries to get this message out. I have waited for it for two decades. It’s just basic citizen readiness messaging

Definitely not true. It’s because the Blackshorts were out protesting, you can see their flags in the background, and the manager of this Spoons didn’t want protesters inside whilst wearing their colours.

I was there, and I think the outraged and slighted conflated the poppy conveniently with the fact they walked in with flags in the first place. The talk of a *boycott* of Wetherspoons from the protesters following this was unintentionally hilarious. Hampshire Police did a great job all in all.

Nobody used the word stockpiling @LBC
'She's got a clue, she hasn't got the money!' Caller Emma says she can't afford to stockpile for emergencies, caller Susie insists Emma's just bad with money. @BenKentish

Today we have two X account lifting commentators in the quotes reminding us not to listen to health and fitness commentary on this platform. Kid’s form is fine, stick to cardio.
The truth is, that for his bodyweight, this is high level ego lifting. He can’t even bring the bar to his chest. Ego lifting is eating deep into the gym culture.

A very special night. Four and a half years on from our first event and such a lot has happened and changed. It felt very reflective!
Brilliant and often very funny event with Professor @LucyGoBag in Harrogate on recovery and resilience in the face of disaster. Timely stuff in the light of the government’s Be Ready campaign.

Elon Musk claims that Ukraine allegedly violated Starlink's terms of use and used the system on combat drones. As someone who was inside the process at the Ministry of Defense, I can say with certainty that this is not true. In February of this year, whitelists were introduced. Stationary terminals could be registered by both military personnel and civilians. But for any satellite terminal to work while on the move, it had to be added to a special list and connected to the military Starshield system. Otherwise, no satellite communication terminals in Ukraine would work. In other words, using civilian Starlink for drone missions was technically impossible. All drone missions that required satellite communication could only be carried out using Starshield. We are very grateful to the United States and SpaceX for access to critically important satellite communications. Ukraine did not violate the terms of use.

The most important thing today is that Starlink and Starshield operations have been restored to the speeds we had before the restrictions. The speeds are now where they need to be. The restoration began overnight, and by this morning, speeds were already sufficient. This matters: for our frontline logistics, for defending Ukraine against jet-powered “shaheds.” I thank all Americans and all our partners who took this seriously and truly helped – members of Congress, senators, all the media, the State Department, and the President. Protecting lives matters.

Is it ok to have a barbecue yet? The impending doom warning system still hasn’t issued an all clear, it been a while.

You're right, @elonmusk. Someone has grown very rich off money flowing from Ukraine. I work in Starlink supply to Ukraine, so I see these numbers firsthand. Ukrainians bought 117,000 terminals in September alone (~$42M), plus monthly subscriptions for each one. And that's just official commercial imports. Not counting government contracts, donor-funded deliveries, direct orders from your website or grey imports. No laundry machines needed. It goes straight to SpaceX.
What’s actually going on in Ukraine is that there is a massive incentive difference between the elites and the people. The former have grown very rich off the hundreds of billions flowing to Ukraine, while the latter’s children are conscripted to die in trenches.

I've been in those trenches every month or two for the last four years. People are tired, they miss their families, they have their frustrations. But they are there, still holding the line, with full clarity that if they let go, Russia and its tyranny will come to their homes.

Weird one this fella. Not on the right, but seems very invested in disputing data and lived experience of normal people, people who don’t buy into the rightwing conservative online narrative that everything is worse than decades ago, particularly on violent crime.
Keep digging that hole...😅😂

Growing up in South Manchester it's stark how much less violence there is day to day. Gang related violence in particular was just the norm especially in the Moss Side/Hulme area. I feel safe walking around Moss Side at 1AM in a way I simply would not have felt safe 20 years ago
This confirms what I’ve pointed out many times on this platform. People really have no idea or completely memory holed just how much more violent life was for us growing up in the 80s and 90s.

UK crime was four times higher when Oasis first played Knebworth than at last year’s reunion gigs. The collapse of crime and safer streets is one of the biggest stories of our time. But one almost never told - or believed. My take on today’s figures: comment.press/lawless

So one of the main accounts on X, who has for years fought to provide accurate information about the Andrew & Tristan Tate case, has been suspended. @CrayonMurders has also been facing legal action from the Tates, alleging his factual content was "defamation", along with trying to force X through the courts to identify him. Really hope @Safety & @support work quickly to reinstate this account, which is the very epitome of a free speech battle.
